A security video of U.S. Sen. Rand Paul at a Nashville International Airport checkpoint doesn’t show him being “irate,” as police asserted.

The Kentucky Republican ran afoul of a millimeter-wave screening machine Monday morning that went off as he tried to enter the airport terminal. Transportation Security Administration officials asked him to undergo a pat-down, but he refused.

An incident report describes the police response as encountering “a passenger being irate.” But videos released by the Metro Airport Authority late Wednesday show Paul entering the security line at 7:57 a.m. and then alternately sitting and standing in a glass cubicle while being watched by authorities. Paul appears to make a few phone calls as well.

Paul is shown being escorted by an airport official at 9:04 a.m. Paul rebooked his flight and later went through security without incident.

For about half of the video, Paul is obscured by a column blocking part of the cubicle. When asked why the camera would be set up only to be obscured by a column, airport spokeswoman Emily Richard said that cameras are “placed for the widest view possible, not a specific area.”

Suprise! They lied! Okay, so we've all been desensitized to the poiint that's it's not a suprise anymore, it's just business as usual. Watch the video yourself and decide if Rand Paul was an was "irate." I think it's very ironic WHO it happened to.

Police State step 1: Fear and intimidation. Status: Mission complete!

To our glorious overlords, any questioning of authority is automatically considered a hostile act.

The minute you refuse to bend over, you are an enemy of the State.

I saw this go by on some online newspaper and thought it sounded strange. I like the way he refuses the pat-down though. Many people don't realise you can refuse it. Obviously you won't be allowed on board but the fact he re-booked his flight and is let through without incident just goes to show what a waste of time it all is...

The video only shows a portion of the encounter. It doesn't even show the beginning, outside the cubicle... How can you determine that he wasn't irate unless you have video of the entire incident?

The next plane flight I take will be a one way ticket to another happier place.

There is the possibility he was irate since we don't have the full video.

Let's assume he was a little irate. That would make it wrong to voice opinion with emotion involved?

He was supposedly "irate" the whole time... so unless he just changed gears like that, which isn't normal.... sure... I suppose.

The Paul's can't win with some people.
In the amount of tape we have , he was swinging his legs like my son used to do, seemed relaxed.

If the camera was to stay on him, because of his Position, You would scream he is getting speacil treatment.

I would like to see TSA's report in this "incident." I wouldn't be surprised if it stated that the "Person of Interest" was "Argumentative,""Confrontational" and or "Combative," or one if not all the three. These are the favorite phrases the Authority Figures's use to in making a case. Obviously he was not Combative because he was "Released" after being "Detained." By stating he was Irate infers he was "Argumentative" and being detained for a hour suggests he may have been close to being Confrontational as well. Regardless, i'll bet the report reflects on these description(s) so as to lay blame on Mr. Paul if he wishes to make a complaint for missing his plane. Most average Joe's who might have angered the "Authorities" by "questioning" their motives and procedures (you know...Argumentative) are easily thrown in the lock-up by adding additional wording in the report. But...hey...they are there to serve you.
