Could someone help me out?

This is a question to those of you who are into meditation(after story time). I'm fairly new at meditation (have done it for less than a year)but this happened a little while ago and has been nagging at the back of my brain ever since...

A couple of months ago I was meditating and was in the deepest state of meditation I have ever been in. While I was in this state I had a weird experience. I was sitting in a meadow by a lake with tree's all around me. All of a sudden everything around me went black. When I "looked" behind me i saw a faint glimmer of light. I slowly stood up and starting walking towards it. When I reached the source of light I saw that I was standing at a 90 degree drop off. When I looked down into the drop off I saw that the light was emanating from somewhere below. As I slowly looked to the right I saw a bridge. So I walked to the end of the bridge and came to an enormous door. The door was about 4 of me tall (that's really the only reference of height I can use) and about three times as long as it was tall. It was made of some kind of metal (with giant rivets). It had a large black handle that looked like a very simple cupboard handle. It also had a small keyhole that looked like one you might see from the 1800's. The keyhole was bordered in gold. No matter how hard I tried i couldn't open up the door. So I... sill Meditating, "sat down" and tried to figure out how to access the keyhole. I couldn't think of anything. I then slowly started slipping out of the trance as I became frustrated with trying to figure it out.

My question to you ATS is has anyone ever came across this "door" or know what i'm talking about? And if so if they have any ways that I might be able to open that door.

I greatly appreciate any advice that anyone can give me. Thanks in advance.

In my uninformed and little experience, i would bet this door (and all other things in that "vision") is symbolizing your quest for spiritual enlightenment, wisdom etc.

I mean..read your story again! It's literally filled with very clear symbols..the light..the bridge...and the door!

It is symbolic for you trying to access knowledge and wisdom, your path and your quest, mediation etc.....and likely the problems you have since you cannot "open the door" yet and are wondering how to do it.

Since you say you are new to meditation, this would make a lot of sense.

This is how i see it.

Maybe others can chime in there with a better interpretation tho.

Side Note: Maybe the door opens "magically" by not trying to open the door...it might be a door which only opens if you let it open on its own. (In other words: Don't try to hard, enlightenment will come but not "by force").

the mind is a mystery for sure.

firstly i believe what your mind is telling you at the start like all of us you sit in darkness and like all things in darkness we seek the light.

the journey to enlightenment is dangerous fraught with dangers and pitfalls. unless a safe passage is found it can be something you are comforted by or do not fear at least.

now the large door is your mind as it is now locked no interaction with your person just a computer for doing math problems and setting stagnate hiding its real potential even from you.

you are the door so therefor you are the key as well.

hears the problem nobody can get you the key or give you the answer if you will. that answer must come from within you or otherwise you wont believe in it.

I'm hope that this was helpful and take it from me when you do open that door show no fear just acceptance

Maybe the light was the key. You went to the door instead across the bridge. Maybe you should have headed towards the light.

Personally I believe what the other people have been saying. Maybe the door leads to enlightenment? Since the door was larger than you and so is enlightenment. Stick to the meditating path and see where it leads

I agree, flexy123, many symbolic things here. The door does seem familiar to me, but I cannot put my finger on it. I have seen the bridge before, and crossed it like the OP did. There was a very bright light on the other side. I too think the door will open magically, a tone, or a word, or words, vibrated in a Kabbala like way. Or a whistle. Interesting post.
