Only one I ever played and loved was final fantasy tactics for pkaystation I. I one left it paused for 3 days because you couldnt save the game mid turn.

FF6 (or 3, interchangable)
FF7
FF8
FF Tactics
FF12
FF5
FF9
FF10
FF3 (Nintendo DS version)
FF13

Those would be in order of favourite. I think i'm missing one. But one of the best ones i've played was 12. I had to randomly pick the first like, 7 of them, because i like them all a lot.

Its been awhile though, I have an emulator on my phone, i play FF7 on my phone xD. FF13 was a bust, it was -alright- but it was WAY TOO LINEAR for being a final fantasy game. It was like FF12.5 or something. Vs13 is going to be like Tactics is it not?! I can't wait for that then. Is it a ps3 only title?

Yep Final Fantasy Tactics was great, and i would of put it at number 4 or 5 in my list except i meant Main title Final fantasy games, i should state that in my OP
.
Anyway Star for you

1) FF9: returning to the meta gems was the best move in the games history, and the separate mini games like the card quest were amazingly immersive. Not to mention all the Easter eggs and the secrets for those with FF knowledge. It was an AMAZINGLY well produced game.

2) FF7: Changed the way FF was seen forever....

3) FF Crisis Core: How have you people forgotten about this gem?! Absolutely epic story line that played off of a prequel to FF7... The best fighting system known to a one-man-team real-time / turn-based game. Hard to explain, you have to play it... They made the best game for the psp to date with the way the controls were handled. You simply have to play it to understand...

At the moment its a PS3 only title (Could change). and FF13Vs isnt going to be an SRPG like Tactics was, its going to be more like FF7 for story, but its gameplay is going to bemore like a turn based zelda if that makes any sense??, thats the last i heard about it anyways
. Star for you mate
.
And your right, i love them all almost equally too

I agree with you FF9 was great
, i prob should of rated it higher on my list, but i like them all almost the same anyways
.
And i never put Crisis Core on it (You're right it is a great game, with an Epic story for any FF Fan, and the BEST
FF7 spin off imo) cos its a side story, and i meant mainline Final Fantasy games
else i would of put both Tactics and Crisis Core on my list
.. Star for you mate

FFX was the best by far esp, being the first on ps2 there was a huge leap in size graphics and gameplay but they got the story right too. FFXIII had huge potential being the first on ps3 but they didnt meet the expectation by a long way, i can only hope XIII-2 will remedy that.
IX was my favourite on ps2 because i loved most of the characters esp Vivi and Zidane, Steiner too, i loved the setting, the story and the cards. Everybody says FFVII but I know the game like the back of my hand now, it was good dont get me wrong but after utterly mastering it theres nothing left, VIII didnt impress me much, It was too sci-fi
and i wasnt too keen on how you used spells and such.
Without doubt though FFX was the best by a looooong way and not only the best FF it is one of the best games ever.

I have always seen Crisis Core as a main-line story. I don't see a direct prequel as a spin-off. I can see your reasoning though, and I apologize for the misunderstanding

FF8 in all 10 spots. That game is just mind-blowing. FF7 and FF10 were nearly as good, 3 wasn't too bad either.

Without a doubt it would have to be FF7. I believe I skipped about two weeks of high school to play that game. Ahhh, those were the days.

Edit to add: When I think of the hours I spent killing pots and orange balls to lvl up my materia I must shake my head. I was obssesed and made master materia of every gem, even the summons materia.

Final Fantasy 10 was my favorite FF game, I never did like any of the others.
I remember putting over 600 hours into that game and unlocked every place on the sphere grid.

1) Final Fantasy VII - It was my first ever Final Fantasy, like 14 years ago, and was the one that got me into the series as a whole.

2) Final Fantasy XII - I love the whole "olden day Empire" idea, with knights and Kings etc. The entire game was massive, and the side-quests were some of the best, especially the Hunt side-quest, keptme going for hours and hours.

3) Final Fantasy XIII - Lightning kicks ass! The story is very similar to today's world in that there is a small group of "awoken" people against it's Government and the sheeple.

4) Final Fantasy IX - Loved the characters, the storyline, the battle system and the music

5) Final Fantasy X - Epic storyline, I engaged with all the characters and felt for them throughout their pilgrimage.

6) Final Fantasy VIII - I know loads of people hated this game more than any other title, but I loved it. Although, I could have happily beaten the living daylights out of Squall for being such a steretypical emo-character (in the depressive sense, not his dress-sense).

7) Final Fantasy VI - Kefka just cracked me up something chronic, he made me laugh so much. Terra rocks!!

I would state my last 3 favourites, but most other Final Fantasy fans I know aren't interested in the 2D sprite-character Final Fantasy games (they CAN'T be real fans
).

p.s. I really don't class XI and XIV as main titles, I mean, they are, but any game that you have to pay a monthly subscription, even though you paid for the game disc in it's box, is ludicrous, andshouldn't be played.

FF7. As for the others I've not played them all.

FF6 was okay, but 8 seemed like a slow progression downward. Thereafter I have been waiting for an updated version (i.e. version that catches up with new technology) of FF7. Presumably that will never occur. Bummer.

No, no in a way you're right, and i can see what you're saying too as it really isn't a spin off as it is a prequel so People can put it on their lists
.
Crisis Core had such a damn sad ending
, i knew it was coming and stuff but damn it was sad
..
Star for you, and everyone else that posted so far too

Great posts
, Now you have me feeling i should go back and say why i like each final fantasy game on my list
, Except im a bit too drunk atm to dig into my brain
.
And Final Fantasy 7 was the game that got me into them all too
, i stayed up 3 days straight playing FF7 when i was younger
. Such a great story
.
And i also agree i dont know why FF8 gets so much hate, as imo it was great
. Great story and characters my only problem with the game was how summons and how magic was used imo
.
And yeah Kafka was one mad S.O.A.B
.
I loved 12 but thought its story was lacking in a big way imo, it was like a single player game trying to be an mmorpg in that aspect imo, but it did have some great characters and gameplay, and the most exploration out of any of the newer Final Fantasy games imo .
Star for you my friend
.
