There are several good repub. canditates other than romney, that is the problem.
In my opinion (a phrase you should perhaps consider adding to your OP, as it all seems to be opinion-based), I don't see several good republican candidates.
If I am to be honest, my conscience will only allow me to vote for one of the current candidates, the very one you are saying people will not vote for. A bit ironic, though I do get what you are saying.
But that's just my opinion.

As soon as Ron Paul becomes a viable canditate, getting more than all the other repub. canditates, he will be scrutinized by the media so much that he will drop back amoung the last place. Romney is most electable, just because he knows how to duck and cover when it comes to politics. He also carries himself in a presidential way. Unfortinuately this matters more to the undecideds than the issues. There are several good repub. canditates other than romney, that is the problem. If it were only Romney and Newt, for example, then Romney would be way behind in the polls.

The only reason you think there are no good republican canditates is that the liberal media has already made up your mind for you. Think about if they took such care with their questions of the liberals and democrats as with conservatives and republicans. The media, tv, newspapers, are not unbiased like they should be, instead they are liberal now if you haven't noticed. So that means democrats will not be called on the carpet for their mistakes like the media will do to any republican canditate. Journalism has sold out to the liberal and socialist view somehow.

BUT Paul on the other hand. Paul will automatically get the Republican support, so Romney's followers do transfer to Paul. Liberals like Colbert and Bill Maher have said they like Paul. Blue Dog Democrats are closer to Paul than they are Obama. Paul can get support from both OWS and Tea Party folks. The young crowd will show up in mass to support Paul, and once Paul has the support of the Republican establishment, his fundraising will be able to compete with Obama's fundraising.
Paul is the only one that stands a chance in November.
