MAP
I felt a little wiggle here sitting at my couch and figured I’d see if rsoe has anything to report yet. I’m in SW Oregon.

Check out all those little green icons all over Idaho and Montana.

I just find it curious is all.

That's a little weird. Haven't heard anything on the news about these fires.

What's going on with that red circle flashing over Sacramento?

Nevermind, I just clicked on it, an earthquake, 2.6. Nothing to worry about.

Earthquake
Country: United States
State: California
Location: Castle Rock Springs
Date: 2012-01-18 : 16:53:44
Magnitude: 2.6
Depth: 1.40 km

The others are wildfires, about 8 of them in that general area of Idaho. Doesn't seem unusual.

Yeah.
I'm in a worried state here wondering if I really felt the couch wiggle. I'm next to the Cascadia sub -d- zone.

Not much going on, at most a small fire in Montana that hasn't even burned an acre. Nothing to worry about, if there was a huge fire it would be on TV.

If you click on the icons in Idaho and Montana, it gives a date of October and December 2011. Must be an error on there end cause those fire were a few months ago

Yeah. Wild fires are not a rarity.

Reporting them seems unimportant with all the other curiosities happening in the news...

It's been very very windy the last few days in eastern Montana, so a small fire could grow pretty fast. I haven't heard of anything widespread though.
It's snowing like crazy atm so if there are fires here...or were they're gone now.

I'm from that area. That just means they have had some lightning storms setting off wildfires. The panhandle of Idaho is mostly pristine forests and lighting strikes set off the underbrush.

It is actually a good thing this time of year while they are easy to control. The underbrush has to burn now and then to keep the forest healthy. A large part of that area is Wilderness Land and untouched.

The Sierra Club stopping the clearing of brush in Yellowstone was the cause of the bad fires in the 1990's. Their lawsuits have caused huge damage to the forests by stopping the Foresters from doing their jobs. In wild areas the burns happen often because they are not controlled. The trees are better for it.

Nothing to worry about here.
