Strange Noise Outside - But heard from inside!

I know this may be terrifying to some. First thing that comes to mind is an alien invasion, project bluebeam or some other sinister event that is about to wipe out the human race. But I digress, we must all witness these events that have been slowing building up.

I think I just caught the Flu after listening to that.
No seriously, I'm really not feeling well. That wasn't funny.

My throat is scratchy, not sure if it's related.

Is the name of the band "The Noise Outside"? If it is, I'd say that's pretty appropriate. That's where they should be.

Hey Boncho,

Well this thread is very telling isn't it. You must be making fun of the noises heard all over the world. I think that it is interesting that the best anyone has been able to come up with on ATS to explain these sounds is jack and #; and so, what? just resort to making fun of those that have a reaction to them?

You have a nice warm sense of humour, Boncho, but the fact is that those sounds are not getting explained away. I am surprised that ATS has not kicked the crap out of the mystery yet. I think the subject deserves the same intensity of investigation that was brought to bear on The Jerusalem Hoax but so far nothing...

Why don't you check ATS for some like minded sound guys and others eager to figure out what these noises are and get to the bottom of it for us. I am way too busy today or I would help.




P.S. Merely anecdotal but true: Phage is no where to be found on these threads having to do with the noises.

In ATS terms that means they are probably worth paying attention to. So very funny, Boncho. Now what are those noises?

I make fun of everything, don't get all sentimental about noises.

I thought the chances of an explanation to come about was good, a while ago, when Windsor Ontario was experiencing them.

There was a few good articles from local news sources covering that case, not sure if it was solved. But I remember industrial noise pollution was ruled out.

Unlike this one.

I believe the Windsor case was sincere from the people who heard it, mainly because there was 150 complaints about the noise lodged.

I know what the "sound" is that is appearing in all these YouTube vids.

It is the sound recorded near or in a multilevel car park, slowed down. The eerie moan like sounds are the tires screeching on shiny concrete as the cars turn tight corners. The roaring sound is air-con.

Speed it up & see for yourself.

Ignore the birds, I think they were added later. Their resonation/echo times are different from the sounds.

chr0naut, this may be too much to suggest but; how about doing all of the audio the way you have done the audio you mentioned? Speed it all up and start a thread. Unfortunately you have to have a place to post the sound files so you can link them to us. when I tried this I used YouTube but I know there are simpler places to do it with just sound. that is how members ganged up on Jerusalem and it was slaughtered in 3 days or so.

What do you think?

I was in a carpark this morning and thought, wait a minute, that sounds just like...

So, this is the process I used to see how close I was:

Download vid to .flv file.

Open file in VLC Player & use Save/Convert to save as a CD Audio file (.wav extension).

Open in Audacity & go "Effect", "Reverse".

in Audacity again go "Effect", "Change Speed" (compress it down to about 1/3 of its original length).

Sounds like car tires screeching in a car-park.

I tried it on some of the other sounds and some seem definitely made on a synthesizer.

Others seem to have been passed through a chorus effect but are probably the same source sound.

Some sound like factory sounds (steel saw) & at a reasonable distance.

Some sound like the alien sound in the new Bioware game, Mass Effect 3 (but distorted).

I'm cynical.
