It sounds like he may have pissed off the wrong person, did I also hear the word sister?

According to the war monger threads they were probably just afraid of the Asian, maybe he was looking to acquire a weapon. We don't know. Obviously this beating was justified and will not at all come back to bite the guys delivering the beating. Nope. This was just good ole' American freedom at work.
