Artificial sweetners.

Sugar Substitute

You should read into one of the Sugar Substitute's used called Aspartame on ATS, some interesting information there, here is one of them...

A conspiracy that really hit home - Aspartame Poisoning

It has man made alternatives such as Aspartame and other nice chemicals as a replacement.

Won’t let my kids have anything with artificial sweeteners, etc.

Especially diet drinks.

This is one of the reasons our country is so F'd, people just put whatever on their bodies and in their bodies without even the slightest thought about what that substance is comprised of. Shampoo, toothpaste, hand soap - ever look at the ingredients in the popular brands? Ever spend the time researching the nature of those ingredients? How could anyone be expected to take pride in their earth or community if they don't even take pride in their own body?

Anybody ever hear of agave nectar? Or maple syrup? Or honey? Or stevia? Or brown rice syrup? With the ease of access and increasing popularity there is no good reason to use any of those synthetic sweeteners. Food comes from the earth, not from a sterile laboratory. Even Victor Frankenstein wouldn't feed aspartame to his monster. Wake up please, naptime has gone on too long.

Oh and here is a fun little tidbit : "Sucralose is made by replacing three select hydrogen-oxygen groups on sucrose (table sugar) molecules with three chlorine atoms. The tightly bound chlorine atoms create a molecular structure that is remarkably stable." (from wikipedia) Enjoy your chlorinated coffee!

Viagra was a Cardiovascular drug before it was discovered effective for Erectile dysfunction. Just because something is discovered by accident doesn't mean it is inherently unsafe. Modern Medicine is rife with drugs that were discovered by accident and are used safely.

To the OP Most gums are sweetened with a combination of Sugar Alcohols (Xylitol, Sorbitol, Manitol) and artificial sweeteners (Aspartame, Sucralose, Acesulfame Potassium)
