It's hard not to panic when a wasp has flown up your trouser leg
Yes it stung me - on my thigh! Another time, whilst enjoying the sun on a beach
in Ibiza and swigging a bottle of cheap disgusting wine, I realised a wasp was also enjoying it and nearly went down my throat. Now that could have
been really nasty.
In England, I believe most wasp stings occur late summer. The hive worker wasps kick out the drones (males) who have been freeloading all summer and
are now no longer any use for mating with the queen wasps. They have no idea of how to get food for themselves and are attracted to sugary foods,
therefore appear in beer gardens and picnics, anywhere there is food, and of course, humans. They are hungry, dopey and work on a policy of sting
first, ask questions later.
