You are making allegations without providing even one instance of lying or false reporting. Any member of this forum should be aware that ALL news sources need to be held accountable, not just the networks that oppose or contradict our own current mindset.
There are no unbiased news outlets. CNN, FOX, ABC, the BBC or CBC all want you to believe that their news programs are fair, balanced, unbiased, mainstream and reasonable; and every one of them is scrambling for advertising or grants from corporations, campaigns, governments or PACs.
If you’re looking for absolute truth, you won’t find it on the news channels.

Everyone loves American Idol.

Even the Canadians tune in to watch the amazing performances.

Just look at the ripple effects of American Idol. Careers have been launched.

It's Free Market Capitalism at its best.

Thats grate but it really just sounds like they are attacking fox news. They surly have news networks that lie? Maybe I have been in America a little to long.

Well, seeing Canadian news reports more Intl stuff, they get to report all the stupid stuff from petty tyrants in Third World countries maybe, or Socialist French news(they can get the French version of the Libyan NATO bombing of Libya) or how about news from the new Egyptian govt, oh wait there's always Al Jazeera, the arabic version of CNN. Or how about Venezuelan news from Chavez. Socialist from Brazil. I'm sure Greece has a good news setup these days.

I never knew how much hatred Canadians had for Americans till I ran across some posting forums back in around 08/09. I see al lot of America bashing here too. I knew Canada was going hopelessly socialist when Margot Kidder was dating Pierre Trudeau.(darn I get those socialists mixed up.

I think that Canadians should be happy that FN is not broadcasting in Canada, even though some, not all networks do carry Fox's news. It's people who are the ones who can turn away from FN. Regardless of the inaccuracy of this thread, Fox manipulates the news, (in their opinion that is) in the way stories are addressed like here, one of many instances,

"A leaked memo from Fox News vice president Bill Sammon to the News staff during the height of the debate over Health care reform in the United States has been cited as an example of the pro-Republican party bias of Fox News. His memo asked the staff to "use the term ‘government-run health insurance,’ or, when brevity is a concern, ‘government option,’ whenever possible." This memo was sent shortly after Republican pollster Frank Luntz advised Sean Hannity on his Fox show that: "If you call it a public option, the American people are split," he explained. "If you call it the government option, the public is overwhelmingly against it."

en.wikipedia.org...

As for Canadians themselves, they are subject to abuse from Fox like here,

www.youtube.com...

Stories presented like that, whether news or chat, speak for themselves. Makes you wonder too, if Fox has it in for Canada big time.

How about reruns of Leave it To Beaver and I Love Lucy? Gumby can replace the l trash cartoons sporting the saving of the earth while scaring little kids into believing their mommy's SUV is destroying the whole planet. I guess growing up believing everyone wears pearl necklaces while vacuuming the living room is better than the propaganda of gay men in bizarre living arrangements with single white women. Which one is more truthful?

hahaha "pro-republican bias". That's really funny. At least there was ONE conservative alternative to the liberal pro-Obama bias in all the other networks, especially CNN. In fact I watched CNN till 08 when they were so over the top liberal pro-Obama. Now I rarely watch CNN if ever. Their liberal agenda and bias turned me off forever.

I hate to break it to people though, most news in the US comes from AP

The Associated Press is an American news agency. The AP is a cooperative owned by its contributing newspapers, radio and television stations in the United States, which both contribute stories to the AP and use material written by its staff journalists. Many newspapers and broadcasters outside the United States are AP subscribers, paying a fee to use AP material without being contributing members of the cooperative.

As of 2005, the news collected by the AP is published and republished by more than 1,700 newspapers, in addition to more than 5,001 television and radio broadcasters. The photograph library of the AP consists of over 10 million images. The Associated Press operates 243 news bureaus, and it serves at least 120 countries, with an international staff located all over the world.

The AP employs the "inverted pyramid formula" for writing that enables the news outlets to edit a story to fit its available publication area without losing the story's essential meaning and news information.

Personally I can't watch any of them. I have a functioning brain and a well tuned BS detector. Their spin drives me up the wall. My next door neighbor is a news fan. I can drink with him as long as we watch BBC. Any of the others and I'm screaming at the TV.

Exactly the point of my post, it's not the subject matter, but the way the subject matter is manipulated in the extreme.

Yes, I like Drudge as well. There was a story a while back that the govt was not allowing access to Drudge. Very peculiar situation. It was reportedly over some spammy coding on the pages.

Oh yes, and I get "Unfiltered News" from G Edward Griffin. www.realityzone.com...

Wow, this was totally debunked on the first page and yet it's still not in the hoax bin?

Talk about agenda. Fox News is the same as the rest of the media. CNN has been trying REALLY hard to prove that this election cycle.

Make sure to watch/record The Five at 5 PM.

News plus humor to relieve the tension. The USA is in bad shape. Dana Perino is great.
Problems and solutions are discussed.

Fox News is number 1 in the ratings.

People from all over the world tune in and watch Bill O'Reilly with The Factor at 8 PM.

Canada makes no sense.

If it was up to me I'd let every country on Earth make a news station and broadcast in Canada over Cable. If they fork out the money to have a studio, employ people....it creates jobs and puts money into Canada.

Isolationism doesn't bring in money.

Besides there are Free to Air Satellites broadcasting over Canada, those wacky religious peoples. You couldn't prove 1 of them right, all can't be right. So some of them are lying and still broadcasting via Satellite over Canada.

They just wanna keep the privilege of lying to the public a Canadian asset!

Swallow your nationalist pride, DRESDENcodex... CBC's been lying to its listeners/watchers for years!

Now they even openly support NATO's war propaganda against places like Iran, Syria, Russia, with all the typical, glorious hypocrisy and double-standards about human rights and blablabla.

They recently massively decried that Iranian-American imprisoned by Iranian authorities, but they sure wash their hands when it's about refugees being detained for years, right here in Canada's high-security prison complexes.

They talk about the Iranian project to build nukes, but never talk about NATO's MASSIVE use of nukes in all its variety, from nuclear plant projects still on the table to DU bullets and mininukes in the Middle-East.

In a "scientific" TV program, they dared going as far as saying that there is NO magnetosphere, and not saying a word about the effects of solar cycles on global warming.

Our national media is a FRAUD, just as much as FauxNews is.

Hoax or not, F&S for the thread.

If Fox News cannot find a way to eliminate their blatantly misleading, if not completely false, form of reporting then they should be banned. Not only in Canada, but everywhere.

It's not a question of whether or not they do it, there is plenty of empirical evidence to prove that they indeed do. The question is whether or not it should be tolerated.

As for proof, I think there's plenty to be found even in the most recent of stories like this one from just over a month ago;

mediamatters.org...
flowingdata.com...

Even Ed Shultz couldn't resist touching on it;

Fox News has even fought and won in american courts defending their right to lie on the air, go figure.

ceasespin.org...

The attorneys for Fox, owned by media baron Rupert Murdoch, successfully argued the First Amendment gives broadcasters the right to lie or deliberately distort news reports on the public airwaves.

If it's not a hoax, I applaud Canada for doing the right thing. If it is a hoax, well that's too bad because there is no way that deliberately misleading the public and/or spreading lies can serve anything other than a destructive purpose or produce anything other than a negative outcome. It needs to stop and it needs to stop now!
