After doing a little zooming out, and cross referencing with findthedata.org & Wikipedia, this appears to bePadda Island. Therefore, the "faults" appear to be cracks in the ice shelf surrounding the island.

You are exactly right, good sir! Here is a map of the whole area of the Djupvikneset Peninsula, what i thought was mountains is actually the coast of the mainland (which I guess could still be mountains : P ) mapcarta.com...

Further checking into the geology and vegetation seems to indicate that I was wrong to assume the red rocks were reflecting light. It's looking like it's leaning in vibrant red lichen's favor.

Antarctica has no trees or bushes at all, vegetation is limited to about 350 species of mostly lichens, mosses, and algae. There are lush beds of such vegetation in some parts of the Antarctic Peninsula. Lichens have been discovered growing on isolated mountains within 475 km (295 mls) of the South Pole. In some places bare rocks are colonised by vibrant red, orange and yellow growths of lichens.

Bottom of the page, "What kinds of plants and animals are there in Antarctica?"

Something is wrong. Either Google Earth hasn't updated their pictures or there has been no noticeable change in 5 years.
