came across this youtube video of Canadian army drills in Downtown Vancouver.
I don't recall hearing about such drills.
It all seems normal until 7:00 minutes in when it shows a man, kneeling forward, hands secured, wearing a mask,
what's bizarre is there are painters behind it just painting away as if nothing is happening.
what do YOU think it means? why the training exercise for.frontline soliders in this type of public action?
What you see here is the Canadian Forces Army Reserves conducting Fighting In Built Up Areas (FIBUA) training. Some training doctrine methods come
from what is learned from soldiers in Afghanistan, and prior to that, Bosnia. These lessons are passed down as improvements are made. There are a
number of Army Reserve units in the Vancouver area. At times, its much cheaper to conduct training in town than in the woods. What is shown looks like
its was coordinated with the regional police forces who were more than likely notified at least three months prior in order to get authorization for
this type of exercise. These would be the same soldiers that would be conducting disaster assistance when the earthquake hits the same area when it
happens. But what you will see is people happy to see the soldiers providing assistance such as what was seen when assistance was provided in the BC
interior during forest fires, floods in Manitoba, ice-storm in Quebec and Ontario.
