Reverse SETI..kinda.

>>Now scientists involved in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) have analyzed their first data from radio telescope observations of Kepler planets. The researchers are searching for radio signals that aren't likely to be caused by natural phenomena, and thus could represent an extraterrestrial message.

Maybe we will get the ancient alien "I Love Lucy" or something.

Lets just hope theyre not hostile, and dont want to eat our brains and steal our resources. Not all aliens are friendly.

Maybe SETi are being led down the garden path being told to check planets that they already know don't contain life so that they have less resources to stumble into the real planets. Its a conspiracy site, just putting it out there

What makes you think our first encounter will be a peaceful one?

My internal wishes for them to be like us, but my objective brain says they wont be using radio waves. Micro waves are a much simpler way to transmit long signals into the cosmos. SETI needs to change their radio strategy.

My hope is they are more civilized than us! Less ego and less warlike would be nice as well!

Seems to me that like a jet flying high overhead where you hear the engine noise as if it's coming from far behind the plane, you would want to search for a signal where the planet was, not where you see it now. There will be a lag even with a signal traveling the speed of light, particularly if the signal has to pass by any large gravity sources to get here.
