I took to heart the instructions for this contest, especially the ones that said:
"No upper or lower word count limits
Any writing form acceptable "
So I present you to this poem.
Small Fire, Immense Sky
The dusk slowly curtsied
and acquiesced to princess night
with her shifting winds, assisted my vision
and bore the veil of gray and silver onward,
revealing a mosaic in the heavens,
luminescent pinpricks
to strip my soul naked
allowing it to bask in the glow
of transient lunar light,
casting my thoughts and images
to swirl upwards like campfire sparks,
into the universal wilderness
chasing Orion on his quest,
leaving me stranded, terrestrial bound
on the forest floor,
realizing my journey has just begun,
yet never ends,
and since I've chosen my trail,
already, I've learned so much, and so little
next to small fires under immense skies.
