Ah, my apologies. It has been a long and stressful day( Haven't even been to bed yet and the sun is coming up in about an hour). I guess I was slow in the humor department when I replied.

But yeah, I get what you are saying now.

Anyway, Yeah, I agree with Chadwickus as well as you that we are not looking at any kind of coverup, but an image artifact, so to speak, involving a lack of information coming through in the picture. If the computer does not have the information that goes in that spot, it can't put anything there, so that's what you get. Nothing, a big black spot.

Still a very beautiful picture though.

Anyway, finally off to bed soon, I hope. Sorry again for being slow in the humor department.

No worries, it was Friday night and it had been a good one on here again.
I also saw the sun rise but then I often do these days. Maybe we should have a sticky thread for certain kinds of information on basic things that recur. The usual lens flares that go by at least once a week, etc. Maybe there is a thread on this somewhere already, I didn't search yet

Example
There was a thread on "Venus erupting" today and the video did look impressive. It did not look like other lens flare type things I've seen here. So I said "It looks impressive but we really need an expert to help explain what we are seeing". Thankfully it didn't take long for Phage to show up. One line of text and 3 pointers to old threads and that was all we needed. Then another person showed up with images showing exactly the same phenomenon in other images. A layperson like myself (and I guess many others here) have no idea how to find that information in the waves of the internet. I am used to seeing lens flares but not from space.

Hope you slept well

ETA Chadwickius reply to me linked to this one for some reason too. Glitch in the system somewhere?

It's just part of the image where there is a loss of information.

It will probably be gone once the higher resolution images are uploaded in a few days time.
Well that answer's no fun.

that made me laugh!!

... i have seen the black boxes in those images before. i don't know what the explanation is but i'm pretty sure it's not a cover up.
