Juhyou – The Beautiful Snow Monsters of Japan

Every year, during the cold winter months, snow monsters make their appearance
on the snow covered slopes of Japan’s northern prefectures.

But instead of running out of their way, tourists flock to these places to admire their natural beauty.

Every one of these juhyou monsters is uniquely shaped by Mother Nature,
who uses strong winds as her tools and thick layers of snow and ice as art mediums.

Juhyou translates as “frost-covered trees” and is a popular phenomenon
that takes place in many of Japan’s northern ski resorts

Although I have seen this happen many times, it is amazing the things that nature can create.
The pictures here aren't the best quality because I had to convert the files, and they lost alot
of definitation, but the pictures on the links are much better.

If anyone has any more pictures of The Juhyou Monsters, I would love to see some more.

I thought those might be trees. You should see winter in Wyoming! When I lived there I've seen trees in my backyard that looked alot like that. Sad part was that the snow was so heavy it would snap their branches. Japan must get very wet snow.

Those things are wicked looking. They must be massive. Quite a wonder of nature I do say. To bad we don't get those over here in california
