Candidates Political Views - What Are They? --- updated for 2020

I am sure like me you want to be more informed and study what the political views of the candidates are. Where do they stand on gun control, foreign policy, civil rights, social security...etc.

I found a website that is very informative. I hope this helps people to know what their candidate is all about. I really like this website because it has all the candidates and where they stand on each issue.

You are welcome...please forgive my ignorance...but what is a sticky?

I posted this site a while in back in one of the huge bickering filled threads. It really is full of some very solid information. It is a great starter for quick, less involved answers that really just get to the point.

As always, I don't care who people vote for. I am a firm believer that if you are going to vote, you have to be informed. Not just about your candidate, but ALL Candidates. That is our responsibility as Voters, and if more people took that responsibility more seriously, we wouldnt even be in this mess today. Furthermore, especially in Today's World where we have so much information at our finger tips, there is NO EXCUSE why we can not be informed.

It certainly appears that those of us who actually research the facts about candidates could hold a square dance in the local American Legion hall in podunk.

I think with all certainitythat most voters are far too lazy and would rather spout their malicious diatribe over petty issues and or by mocking what they have heard from someone else.

You all here obviously know it takes little effort to research for 'actual quotes' and information by and about candidates, not maliciousy prepared media cuts or prejudiced statements, but just the facts. Of course it requires constant attention as a lot of the candidates constantly change/revise their opinions...

If everyone in American would alot 1 hour per week at their computer, instead of blabbering inanely on FB or someother site, or looking at internet porn, the facts jump out like a 'jack in the box'.

The fact they will learn, IMHO, is there is not a candidate out there whom is 100% good to address the current finacial depression and associated job losses in America today, and or to support 100% our individual rights under the the constitution and its amendments...

Tis truly a sad day for America...

This is just my opinon based on more than 40 years of having been actively involed and hands on in both parties... (I have offically in writing removed myself from both parties), and my research and my priority list.

My post is not intended in any manner to be challenging to anyone so please don't take offense.

Lets pray for American... she certainly needs it...

I am all for newt. He supports microchipping people to keep track of them and abolishing paper currency. I dont care about the Constitution and want kids to also work as janitors at their schools. Newt Gingrich 2012!

Tell me about it. I feel like the majority of people I talk to have absolutely no idea what is going on. The system has absolutely no integrity at all and has me to the point where I no longer want to care (or wish I couldn't). The entire thing has now become a popularity contest for ignorant Americans to go and vote by who can read a speech better. With that being said, I would consider myself a centrist, but more towards the right and I would rather see Obama stay this time because I have never seen such a horrible group of GOP candidates in my life.

I couldn't agree more. I am 28. I voted for the first time this last election. I didn't feel qualified to vote before that.

Hi Tom - given the nature of your post, I'd imagine we'll have fairly significant policy disagreements, but as you can likely tell from my signature threads, etc., I'm a Paul supporter.

I can't disagree about the rest of the republican offerings, and I definitely wish Paul was more easily marketable, less easily disavowed due to certain personal histories and media inclinations, and generally had better communication skills...but if Paul actually had a fair shot at the republican nomination, I'd have to disagree with Obama pick.

Otherwise agreed, though...short of Paul, I have to stand on my belief that "the devil I know is better than the devil I don't know".

I was an absolute die hard Paul loyalist for the last 7 years or so, and actually, still am. He is probably the ONLY politician that is genuine. However, my euphoria for a candidate that isn't owned by tptb and msn has dissipated after the last election because I don't think a win is possible. When I say it is the worst group I have seen, I should have gone on to say the GOP candidates that fit in the status quo-puppets are the worst I have seen.

I was watching a GOP debate quite some time back, and simultaneously following a thread someone made here, about that. Ron Paul then said something which sounded concerning, about illegal immigrants, to those who'd like to see strong "borders-language-culture" for the US. People were posting, like, "goll, that didn't sound right," and then, "Well, Paul was being carefull and nice, because he's campaigning,"

I am a frustrated proud Canadian and do not have a vote in the USA and I am happy I do not live there today not because I hate the country, I always loved America, my father loved America, his father loved America and I am proud to be your neighbor at least I use to be proud now more like concerned for my neighbor.
It’s like looking via the window of my house and seeing my neighbor house get damaged and robed by thieves not being able to help, the only difference is my neighbor is being manipulated, his liberties are getting robed, and the country is being damaged and yes Canadians can only watch and pray that his neighbor will make the right decision this time arround.

I am always surprised how US citizens never vote for the right president (well over the past 12 years anyways) and when they do Kennedy he gets wacked!. I mean first George Bush a cowboy that talks and acts like an idiot....how he managed to get 2 terms blows my mind.

How easily he created fear for his citizen and how blind everyone was to his false promises. Every time he spoke he would not reassure his citizen and call to calm and peace he would scare them!!!!! Every time!!!!! we all knew how far off the American values, humanity values, liberty values this man was. He was all about money and power and would of sacrificed America’s values, liberties of its citizen and reputation for it!!!.

Then the population supposedly wakes up at a time where well Bush is out of office no matter what happens and vote for change (2 terms)....yes Obama came along with a song and dance and was elected for promises made of "Real Change”. and a promise of representing the people. Still after all of this most of the country still supports him, wow if any of my employees/friends made all these promises to me and did not follow through and even went against his promises and pledges I would not want to be his friend anymore and yet……no backlash from the people what so ever! Not only did he not provide what he promised but he actually is trying to remove and destroy the constitution and even said that he believes the American constitution is old and should change. When protest start it gets shut down and people just sit back and keep voting for the same type of promises/people.

Now they just ignore everything Obama has promised and not delivered and continue to ignore the facts and keep listening and believing this smooth talking salesman and ignore Ron Paul who will do exactly what he promises. He has been preaching the same thing for 30 years. He is honest, and fresh and nothing he said or is saying gets him in trouble in debates why? Well because it’s the truth and yet no one wants to listen and the people who do listen have no power and have no way of communicating with the rest of the USA.

If Ron Paul does not get a chance to go against Obama in 2013 I guarantee that at the next elections 2017 people will be begging for Ron Paul cause the USA will be in a Fascist system and will plead to get their liberties back.

I am amazed! As a Canadian I hope Ron Paul gets a change to debate Obama cause Obama would be in trouble and the people of the USA would be able to see firsthand how what Ron Paul is saying is true. Just his stance before and after on the constitution would make Obama look like a fool, the Bills passed and supported by Obama, the World Bank and the printing of money…etc...

Ron Paul is the only candidate that can win against the smooth talking Obama. He is the only one that can win and I thought that was the whole idea for them to elect someone that they believe can win!!!!! I never hear anyone stating that Ron Paul is wrong in any of his ideas and visions ever. All I hear is Ron Paul is this and that…….ok look at what he is saying, then state why he is wrong?

If you say Ron Paul is wrong then what is he wrong about? Why are Americans afraid to listen…..consider the facts from both sides and then make a choice? The other candidates just mention how they did this and that and come up with plans that are exactly the same old same old and yet it’s working AGAIN!!!!! .. Why do American just take it up the ass? You guys are the strongest country in the world, should its citizens be informed and as strong? Why are there so many people not protesting and demanding answers. If Paul does not win I have the feeling that all countries will be in the same position in 10 to 20 years.

Ever wonder why Obama came out with change and was embarrassed by the media and now Paul is calling for change and is ignored???? I do not understand but hey I do not live there and I can do nothings…JUST LIKE Ron Paul said its up to Americans to fix america. Just like Paul said

Voting records for the candidates indicate 3 of 4 political views are dictated be the lobbyists. What a system.

Gingrich & Santorum are both going to be in my town tommorow morning to meet the public & I will be attending both! I find it interesting that both are doing so at 9 & 12 on a sunday morning in Meridian, Ms. as we are in the bible belt & most of their supporters will be in church! I plan on asking Newt how he can be trusted when he has worked with Nancy Pelosis in the past & am still contemplating what one question i should ask him.....Any suggestions on what I should ask ole Rick if given the opportunity?

Elections in US really suck and I'll tell you why

I see that everyone is excited with the upcoming elections, but what do we really know about the "perfect" electoral system of America? Well, some say it's an example for imitation but the Pew center showed its seamy side.
Center's study described how unreliable US electoral system is. First of all, it hasn't changed for many decades while the democratic process requires an effective system for maintaining accurate voter registration, but the current one is corrupted and full of errors and inefficiencies. Here some statistics that show how bad things are:
1. 24 millions of voter registrations in the US are not valid;
2. More than 1.8 millions of deceased individuals are listed as voters;
3. 2.75 millions have registration in more than one state;
4. Many voters have ID without picture and some election districts do not ask for it.
So it comes out we have a lot of work to do before the elections could be fair and won't cause serious disputes over its integrity. On the other hand such loop-holes give enough space for the "right" candidate to change election's tack on every level. The only disappointing thing is that we allow ourselves to blame elections in other countries while we can't clear up the mess in our own backyard.

I know it's 7&1/2 month away till Nov, and my choices are NO one who represents me. I -don't- want any more "war", I -don't- want any more deregulation (everything needs to be -heavily- regulated or the greedy psychopaths will run amok) I -don't- want anymore bailouts for the Illuminati banksters, I don't want any abolishments of social safety nets (just invest greatly, in heavily clamping down on the ways to defraud therein) I -don't- want anymore TSA, I don't want anymore fascist measures against the American people. I -don't- want the Left's eroding of values boundries, and their impractical political correctness.
All the GOP candidates except Paul, are so called "Christians" who are rabidly anti abortion, and cannot wait to abort out of this life, born populations in other countries.
Man, I'm so screwed.

Abacusvotescounting is that beads are used for voting that can be put in boxes after each person votes then taken out and placed on abacuses for public oversight counting. Each bead would be the size of a pokerchip and would have one side a picture of the candidate and on the other side the candidate's name. Each bead would be colored for political party (green for Green Party, yellow for Libertarian, pink for Socialism and Liberation, blue for Democratic, red for Republican, black for Reform, brown for Constitution, tan for Tea Party), gray for independent candidate (with his/her initials & photograph on each of those gray beads), white for legislation with a Y for yes printed on that bead and a N for no printed on other white bead. Through the circumference of each bead would be a hole drilled for a tiny screw to be screwed into it - each screw connected to a little number flag to rank the candidate's choice in accordance with Instant Runoff Voting. Each voter, after he/she has favored the beads & screwflags he/she wants to vote with, places those favored beads into a bag that can't be seen through (the favored bag), and then places the beads & screwflags he/she does not want into another bag that can't be seen through (the discard bag). Then, the favored bag is dropped into the abacusvotescounvoting box and the discard bag is dropped into a discard box. After all voters have dropped their favored & discarded bags, the favored bags are removed from the abacusvotescounting box and each bead is then placed on an abacus for counting. So what do you all think of this idea? And yes, I do totally believe that Kat Swift is your best Vice-Presidential running mate because we all swiftly must have real change that's fine, Dr. Jill Stein.
