I am not sure how long it takes, but judging by the video in the link I would say about 20 seconds or so. Also, most of the other balloons that were let go were not nearly as bright as this one and they barely rose higher that the first twenty stories before being blown away. I was in the entrance to the car park across from the Hyatt and saw many of these balloons and green laser pointers being used. They don't show up in any of the videos but I can say for sure they were all over the building moments before the countdown. It's possible that the guys in the original video hadn't seen any of the balloons because they were on the opposite side of the building, and it is also likely that they had had a few beers and were just kidding around about thinking it was a UFO.

How large would you say these baloons would have been?
and were the led lights flashing, sold or both?

The balloons were quite small; a bit bigger than an average water balloon. Not all of them had LED lights attached but the ones that did, did not flash. They all did have messages hanging from the bottom with wishes written on them. It was like a small New Year's version of the lanterns let off during Lantern Festival without the use of burning ghost money since they were being let go in the middle of the city. The one in the video however, was larger and unlike the others in it's brightness.

If you have a look at this video in full screen at 1080p the object looks fairly large. I understand that a small baloon with a bright led in the night sky can appear bigger than it is. but this object also seems to pulsate as it descends.

btw im leaning towards this being a ballon as you were a first hand witness, at the same time i just want to explore all possability's

[more

I like UFO's as much as the next guy, but I can say with certainty that this was not one. If you watch the video in the link I posted earlier, at around the 35 second point you will see the balloon rising up.

Definitely check out YouTube for other videos of this event. In every one I've seen so far, it's been the same thing. That's a light, definitely not a damn seagull. And at the same point in the videos, it starts to pulsate and then plummet, all after having done a bit of non-helicopterlike manuevers. I think it's a UFO, no question in my mind so far.

i'm not sure how you can be 100% certain on this one.

your own words.

and

The one in the video however, was larger and unlike the others in it's brightness.

I also asked the owner of the video I linked about this light. Not that it means anything, but they said they had never heard of balloons with lights in them being let go last night. To be fair they also said they would believe it was a baloon over a UFO.
you can read the coments under the video.

at around the 35 second point you will see the balloon rising up.

this could also be seen as the object approaching from the distance, the low camera angle could cause this.

Once again i'm still with you on this one, im just not 100% sure.

Most amazing thing in this video is the fact that at the top of this building in Taipei communist China has “Happy New Year” in English!

I think its in Taiwan not China .

on another note after further analysis if you watch the vid i am posting at about the one minute mark the object begins to descend/drop now as it drops at 1 min 10 secs on the vid the object then curves along like its being controlled by some intelligent force i do not think its the wind blowing it .

take a look at the 1 minute 8/10 secs mark on the clip its clearly seen changing direction and speed i do not think a balloon would drop then all of a sudden slow its speed down and change direction .

Taipei is in Taiwan, not in mainland China.

And "communist" mainland China has signs in English for many years now.

So last night in Taipei there was overcast, at most a cloud ceiling of 3000 feet, and winds were at most 10 mph, which probably wouldn't cause a balloon to move that fast. And in each video the object follows the same flight path. Definitely a UFO, but whether it's of human or ET origins is the real question... Which if it's some type of man made drone, what would be the purpose of monitoring Taipei?

I saw the first video before second vid was posted then editted my original post, your right that second one had me scratchin my head.

If it is the odd way the point of light appeared to move in the second video that bothers you, please notice that the camera was rotating slightly every time the object appeared to move. I think it was the camera movement that gave the appearance that the light was moving funny.

Without the camera movement, the object may have been moving in straight line -- so it still could have been a helicopter or plane..

Now that's a UFO!

No man made vehicle can move like that.

It looked interested in the fireworks.Almost like the object thought it was a threat or something.

What if..they are good aliens? What if they come here searching for the bad aliens that are already here trying to take over earth?I mean there are good and bad humans right so why not aliens? Some things are just evil by nature.

What if the majority of aliens are here to help us against other evil ones? What if the real reason they make you think aliens are going to invade is so that if they do show up we will be so afraid that we will kill them without knowing why they are really here?Thereby helping the evil aliens destroy the good ones that show up wanting to help.

Could it be that evil aliens are hiding among us,and are secretly breeding so they can take over the planet?

This is not a fake!

This is probably the best footage I've seen since the UFO over Jerusalem videos!

Good luck debunking this one! That's no Chinese Lantern!

I have seen something that looked very similar to the thing in the video. Actually on more than one occasion...I live outside in a small town and it is not very hard to observe things in the sky...and I enjoy doing it.

Now we have cleared up the seagull theory... NEXT! lol... UFO for sure

I like the idea about them checking out the fireworks.. what a spectacle for ET's on holiday at planet earth... Imagine the intergalactic travel brochures...
" A must see if visiting the planet Earth, named by the intellectually and morally challenged human beings, is the annual celebration of the planets transit around their native star.. an odd event where human beings drink excessive amounts of poison which induces a state of happiness in their inferior brain"

"however their primitive "fireworks" as they call them.. are quite the spectacle, and can be seen all over this ravaged planet"

"If you intend to visit planet earth, do so very soon, as the human beings are very close to destroying themselves and whats left of a once beautiful planet"

Good. We're on the same page about this being a UFO!

Now, I don't want to derail this and start discussing the psychology of an alien but for some reason, I doubt they are watching us watch fireworks.
I would suspect that's like us watching paint dry.

I further suspect they're way past spying/watching us. I believe they 'think' therefore they know. Most if not all, are telepathic which gives them instant information.

I believe many visitors (in some of these crafts) are the Greys who are basically the gophers. The robotic drones with no emotion or feeling. Just a hard-drive and task at hand. They are totally dispensable. So I can't see them 'watching' us and caring.

Now their bosses, the more advanced species, already got our number. They know what we're doing, why we're doing it and where we're headed. They've been around long before we discovered fire. So they've watched us go from rubbing two sticks together to blowing one another up. So the 'invention' of fireworks is passe to them.

Of course this is only my belief . We simply don't know. But I really doubt we are doing things that interest them to a point of curiosity (like hovering over fireworks because they're taking notes).

I think if this was a real off-world visitor, they were there so they could be observed. But....this is for another discussion for another time on another thread.

Happy 2012. Hey, I like how that feels.

Here is a another video. At bout 35 seconds in you can see the balloon rising from the base of the building.

www.youtube.com...

Hmmm. Does appear the light is climbing like a balloon/lantern would.

I just can't understand how the light source is still visible from that distance. Not only is it 1600 feet off the ground, but the camera person has to be quite far away too. So you mean to tell me these lanterns can be seen by the naked eye from a half a mile away (just guessimating here)?

But if you were there, and you saw this then, we can only argue your credibility at this point. Because you claim to be an eyewitness. So, this is taking a different direction now.
