Best comics for newcomer

Well, my friends say I've lived a sheltered life. Somehow I've made it through life without collecting, or even reading a comic book. Actually, I've read 2 X-men comics, but that was it. I want to get into comics. Does anyone have any suggestions for good comics to get into? Growing up I watched Spiderman TAS, and X-men, and loved both! But aside from that, have no experience with comics.

if u like mature story lines with well orchastrated combat, lone wolf and cub might be you cup of tea, my favorite comic. i havnt been reading a lot of comics lately though. battle angel alita is also very good, savage dragon was great too.

There is a Comic for everyone on almost any subject matter. Most people gave up reading comics in the 90's because they were not reading the right one for them.
