Is there any way to know what the real date is?

I've seen this written at the top of other peoples OP's all the time and always thought these things were quite obvious but - Mods, if this is in the wrong forum please put it where it belongs - I had no idea what forum this should live in.

This was inspired by the thread about how the original Sabbath Day (if you're into that sort of thing, personally the only Sabbath I'm interested in was fronted by Ozzy Osbourne) may not have been a Sunday. Some contributers rightly pointed out that with leap years and such we don't know what day it should really be. Now this got me thinking, would there be any real way of working out what the date actually should be? I know I could probably research this online but I only have internet access on my trusty Bramble (that's a Blackberry to you non-Scotsmen and women out there) and it takes too long to realistically get anywhere. I know that leap years have had an effect on our calander but is there anything else I'm missing thay could have an effect? (apart from, of course, when we switched calanders)

I know that, on the grand scake of things, this issue is rather insignificant but I for one am quite interested in this.

I look forward to your input.

It actually doesnt matter. Its not a real question.
Because dates are purely human constructs, and many different humans have invented many different versions, there is no actual real definitive date.
You can start your own calendar if you wish. It will be as real as any of the others. (Perhaps not as useful)

to work it out correctly i'd imagine you'd need to find out the date when the earth finally became the ball of rock enough to be classed as a planet and then just keep counting the days from that point (might need to take your socks off as it'll go past 10
) but since we dont have an accurate down to the day model of the solar system to work it backwards any number you pull from where ever will only be a rough guess and could be a few hundred million days off with ease

Ozzy, Dio and what's his name's Black Sabbath aside....... if the sabbath day you are looking for is related to Sunday, which in turn was created as a sabbath by the Catholic Church, then just look to the Jews. Their sabbath begins Friday evening and lasts until Saturday evening.... and that is the weekly sabbath that Jesus ignored when he did some "work" and got priests' and elite's panties in bunches.
