Ben Nelson to Retire (plus term limit talk)

It appears Senator Ben Nelson, D-NE is calling it quits.
I mention this more than anything to discuss term limits. Several years ago, I had everyone who would listen rolling their eyes at me, because I predicted that Nelson would not run for re-election.

I asked myself why Ben Nelson would vote against a huge majority of Nebraskans who opposed the bailouts and government healthcare. After all, most politicians all have one thing in common - they want to get re-elected. The answer hit me like a brick. He didn't WANT to get re-elected. He wanted to get all he could under the table for himself and go into a well-funded retirement.

Now, I tie this into term limits. If we put a two-term limit on congressmen and senators; HALF of all of our representatives would be like Uncle Ben. They would never consider what WE want, because WE can't hold them accountable with our votes. If you think our elected officials are deaf to our complaints NOW, just WAIT until this happens.
