He wants to get rid of the DoE... I guess my kids are not entitled to an education, since I cannot afford to send them to school out of pocket.. Its all good though, with a free market, they can start working mining jobs once they turn 7.. That will keep them busy...

You have no idea what you are talking about there.

The DoE wasn't even established until 1979. So did we or did we not educate children prior to 1979? Oh, yes, we did.

As a teacher, I can tell you that the DoE is not needed. It doesn't add one single thing to the value of your child's education.

Think about how dumb this is: we tax citizens of every state, send the money to Washington, where some of it goes to the DoE, and the DoE decides how to reallocate it to the states, and they send some of it back. What in the world good does it do us to send it through Washington? Just the other day, I heard a radio news report about how some states are "competing" for some sort of early childhood education funds. Here's an idea: let the state KEEP 100% of the tax money collected for education and decide how to use it right there in the state!

As for the question of the OP, I vote for freedom rather than shackles. It's really that simple.

hmmm, I am pretty sure, I have heard Ron Paul talking about returning to the gold standard on more than 23 occasions... are we talking about the same Ron Paul????

and FYI,
the government is supposed to protect us from the shackles, its not the government that wants to put us in shackles, but its the very people that Ron Paul would like to see have free reign over society that wants to put us in shackles... you know, the plantation owners....

Since you like to selectively snip passages from the Ron Paul website, let us look at what the entire passage states concerning the issue of abortion...

* Immediately saving lives by effectively repealing Roe v. Wade and preventing activist judges from interfering with state decisions on life by removing abortion from federal court jurisdiction through legislation modeled after his “We the People Act.”

* Defining life as beginning at conception by passing a “Sanctity of Life Act.”

Because he agrees with Thomas Jefferson that it is “sinful and tyrannical” to “compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors,” Ron Paul will also protect the American people’s freedom of conscience by working to prohibit taxpayer funds from being used for abortions, Planned Parenthood, or any other so-called “family planning” program.

The strength of love for liberty in our society can be judged by how we treat the most innocent among us. It’s time to elect a President with the courage and conviction to stand up for every American’s right to life.

So, any person with relatively elementary reading skills can see there would be a removal of FEDERAL intrusion and a return to the more localized STATE governing issues of abortion...No more court rulings necessary...and no more tax-subsidized abortion...

Not to mention the simple fact that, at its core, Paul's belief in the sanctity of life is grounded entirely in the constitution. A right to LIFE, liberty, and happiness.

Every thread with the name RON PAUL gets side tracked by arguments. Please people read my post on what i am trying to archive with this thread. I do not want another runaway train here

I am aware of this. This would allow states to make abortion illegal. A woman's right to make decisions about her body should not be negotiable or left up to ANY government.

Biggest reasons for supporting Ron Paul:

1) End the destruction of our currency's purchasing power. Even if someone is on welfare, the amount of items you can afford will continuously shrink as the dollar's strength continues to decline. Since the creation of the Federal Reserve, the dollar has lost 95% of its purchasing power.

2) End America's global empire, which is based on nothing more than money and power - its pure evil.

3) Protect our civil liberties. Am against the police state. Tired of the TSA. Absolutely opposed to the "Patriot" Act, warrantless spying on citizens. Against torture, secret renditions, secret prisons, assassinating of US citizens without any due process, etc.

4) Government gone wild. The federal government has become way too bloated and their quest and hunger for centralized power is like a pit-bull on steroids. They want to run every aspect of our lives. Washington D.C. is the epicenter of corruption. Its run by Lobbyists, political insiders and special interest groups. It needs to be dismantled like any other monopoly and the power needs to be handed back to the states, counties and communities i.e. the people.

Those are the main ones but I essentially agree with everything the man says and has been saying for 30 years.

The law should not be coming from the bench...If the people of a state want to make abortion legal, then it should come from the legislative body of the state...
