The very word "racist" is a made up word. Try looking it up in an old dictionary, you won't find it. What is described as racism used to be called nationalism, and was considered a good thing. It is human nature to not like those guys who live on the other side of the river over there. Especially if they look different and talk funny.

In fact, in the old days, it was to protect yourself, and learned by experience. In the Middle Ages, if you came across someone who looked very different than you, and spoke differently, you would do well to be very cautious around him. If there were more than one or two of them, you were probably best off trying to kill them immediately, because they were probably there to kill YOU. This might end in your own death, if you weren't quick and strong. Your next best option, and it was a lot worse, was to try to run away from them. This usually ended up in your death.

For example, if you were European, and you came across a group of Asian looking men on horseback, you better get ready to fight, because they were with Ghengis Khan and running would do no good, you were going to die today. Therefore, it made sense to fear the different.

I like how you called racism, or if you will nationalism, human nature, when it is more like ape nature. This is the behavior apes have, and we are not apes. We as a human race are completely beyond all of this. It boggles my mind that millions of people starve to death every day, and there are people out there with billions of dollars, just letting it sit there. In all reality we could have a system in which we have no money, no government, no possessions and everybody has exactly what they need. Theres no need for these big mansions, huge institutions, enormous stadiums, all of this I see as big black holes people keep throwing their money into. Why should anyone have to pay to live in a place they were born in? What makes anything yours? The major problem with this is the transition from where we are now. We are so far down the other path, that at this point it could be another thousand years before we hit that point. I guess my comment is that I see the potential in everyone, however it is only rarely that I see people doing the right thing. The mentality nowadays is "every man for himself" which is a childish attitude.

All words are made up words.
In etymology, the word racism as an adjective is attributed to the middle of the 1930s in the context of Nazi theories.
It replaced earlier words from the end of the 1800s/early 1900s, racialism and racialist, which were used in a British/South African context.
From the early 1700s to early 1800s the word used was "Sambo", which was a common name given to slaves.

Yep. Same works for ATSers posting here. The first 2 1/2 years Obama was in office ... anytime anyone pointed out anything wrong the guy did they were immediately called a racist. (or it was insinuated in a not so veiled way :shk: ) thankfully MOST ATSers have grown enough to understand that a person can point out how sucky Obama and his policies are and not be a racist.

It's another conspiracy that The Powers That Be foment racism thru their mechanisms like the Main Stream Media. Their purpose is to keep us divided into "classes" that fight amongst each other rather than uniting against the common enemy.

Along with the divide and conquer tactic, I think it is also creates and perpetuates confusion.
There is so much information coming at us every day. I do not believe it is possible for any one person today to be in the know and understand fully what is going on right now. There is so much going on it is hard to take it all in and digest it in your mind over night.... but the information keeps coming at full blast. It is my opinion that some people are thoroughly confused.
And I admit I am one of those people who was and is still confused.... but I feel that the more books I read, the more exposure I get to MSM and the internet the more I know and can, hopefully, try to process.

You know, someone commented above and to me they seemed in a way condescending because I follow Beck, but I think it really takes following them all. By follow I do not mean do as they do, but watching-waiting-listening and especially remembering what they have all done and said. It is hard to do!
I have looked at everything from the far left, middle, to far right that I can find.... I am open to reading and educating myself about anything. That is what it takes, I believe, to even begin to find some sort of clarity in all this mess.

I was looking at other forum-like websites back then and I saw the same kid of things there. I check in on them from time to time and a lot of them have not changed. I have seen it only a few times at ATS since I've been lurking around here, but it did not seem prominent, which is why I joined here.
I am glad there has been a change here.

Everyone to one degree or another is racist it is just human nature to seek out that to which you are familiar. It doesn't really become an issue until you submit to that lower form of thinking and grant yourself a level of superiority based on factors that are completely irrelevant. Or accept that because of those factors you are inferior. For years those with power and wealth have been brainwashing the masses, with this nonsense. Because as long as they can keep you distracted with racial, sexual and lingual differences they have the ability to rob you blind.

Many thanks for your reply! Things don't appear to be much different for you either. I have no problem with immigrants who come to Canada as long as they do so legally, and leave all their damn political and religious problems back where they came from. Much like yourself, I have a big problem dealing with those who like to hurl insults at me, but only because they can hide behind the safety of their keyboard!
Thanks to the wimps that have made up our government since the mid 1970's, immigrants from Moslem countries have made demands on our government that not only were granted against the wishes of most Canadians, but have made such an impact on our lives that Canada is fast losing her identity.
I very much doubt that any of our forefathers who fought and died in the mud and slime of the trenches at Vimy Ridge and other wars to follow, ever once thought that some day their beautiful and proud country would some day have to kowtow to the demands of a people whose religion that dictates that all "infidels" who are in a Moslem point of view other religions, and Christians especially. I'll never understand why our military is fighting and dying for countries whose people have relatives living here, in Canada. We are only making the future of non Muslim Canadians, more dangerous than it already is! Since the days of Prime Minister Trudeau, our governing parties have been allowing potential enemies into the country, beginning with those people whom the Uganda dictator Idi Amin gave short notice to get out of his country! Pierre Trudeau threw wide open the flood gates, and the Muslims poured right in!
It isn't the Muslims themselves I dislike, but what my governments have allowed them to do to the country I dearly love! It's easy to say "No!", but then many votes would have been lost in future elections. For at least one generation of decendants, people will usually vote for the same political party that was in power when their parents and grandparents were welcomed into the country, something Pierre Trudeau was well aware of.
If anyone wants to mouth off and throw insults at me, do so instead to my government! It created me!

Yea racism sucks big time. But on the up side, racism as it is today is a fairly new social convention. New as in probably like the past 300 years at the most. Since people are working so hard to deconstruct it I think it will eventually go away. I mean not that long ago 'white' people (btw I hate that term) were divided in America by their heritage. If you werent a wasp you were trash. But then the govt needed more solidarity for numerous reasons so they slowly allowed other variations of 'white' to join the 'white' race. Irish, German, Polish, etc. Until we arrived where we are today where everyone is just 'white.' So this will probably be a thing of the past in maybe another century.

So basically in your view non-white, non-english speaking, non-christians shouldn't be allowed to be Canadian. What makes fighting a war in the Middle East any different than any other war Canada has fought in? None WW2 was fought on a continent comprised of the white people's relatives. Life is change accept it or find a remote island to live on. And just for the record there are other Muslims besides those that live in and came from the Middle East I am sure that they appreciate your narrow views as well.

Anyone can become Canadian, but leave all the religious and political crap back where you come from, and don't have our government put another religion before Christianity. Our children can no longer say the Lord's Prayer in school, yet Muslims have special rooms set aside whare they can say their own daily prayers! Sounds like you wouldn't understand anyway!
I'm not going to discuss my views with you, seeing as those who moderate the site will simply delete my post!

Are the existing laws required learning in schools? Does a high school graduate know the specific number of all the laws and rules that exist?

There's a sign that says "bumpy road ahead". Kids now and in the future will learn alright. The hard way to educate yourself and friends about The Law. Break it, get fined and tell your friends. Law school graduate. By the time they are adult they have a degree in criminality and are unable to land a well paying job or get a security clearance. Just the way it is intended to be. Work at Walmart or Mickey Dee's and pay rent you low life citizens.

Ahhh, another sleeper is awakening. I can hear it in your words. Good for you. Don't try and absorb too much at once. Be patient, it will come a_little_at_a_time.

A good way to determine which is which (truth vs. lies) is to pick one subject from a Main Stream Media newscast and then compare what was said there with what others say about it here. Get a broad band exposure as it were, to a story from all sides. You will hear the truth of it concerning that one issue, I guarantee it. The truth Is the truth, not a lie. Thats how you know one from the other. Then you can move on to another subject, and another.

If you can stand Beck and others like him, then you can process form here too. Be aware however, the truth can sting too. If it becomes confusing like you say, take a break from it and let it sink in. You'll get it if you don't hurry the learning curve or pile too much on at once.
