Turn off your speakers. There, fixed that for ya!

And then turn them on everytime you want to listen to a video or some other sound...
I don't think that fixed anything...you just broke something else!

Perhaps your computer is different than mine. There's a little button right above the keyboard. Press it to turn off. Press it to turn on. I know that is very onerous for some people to accomplish. After all, it takes a very valuable second or so to accomplish, but I've found it a pretty easy way to control sound. Further, it means I don't have to demand other people fix my little world to my specifications because I "don't like" or am "offended" at something they're doing on their own web site I chose to come to and am using for free. Instead, I can control my own environment and leave them alone. I'm pretty sure they appreciate that a lot.
Hi ATS, for the past couple of days, I get audio ads on a lot of your pages. Which pisses me off as I have to stop listening to my music and press pause on all the bloody ads before I can resume my reading. The ads are from Auchan, a French supermarket. If you could do something, it would be great as I can't enjoy the website like this

I have ads pop up for all kinds of things that have nothing to do with anything I have browsed and nothing that I am interested in!
If you are okay not reporting a problem and/or asking the advice of other members about a problem...well then that is you prerogative...me...I feel comfortable asking other members about issues they might experience with the site...and using that to determine whether a annoyance is normal!
And most certainly I would not expect to be bashed for it...although some think it is appropriate...I don't feel the same way!
but I did see that the OP only had 102 some odd posts, so I knew he was a newer member
ATS has NO CONTROL over the audio on the ads, nor does the Advertiser. Seriously. Audio is CONTROLLED by the individual's PC, believe it or not. There's no coding for audio levels in the current RFC's. It's either audio on, or audio off. The volume level is determined by the end user, and the sound card in that individual's system. The signal is digital until it hits the user's hardware, and it's ONLY controlled by either the manual volume control or a software volume control.
Webmetrics are complicated. ATS code is proprietary. I cannot tell you how they work. Their source code is a carefully guarded secret.
I've posted in BBQ before, no biggie. Usually when you post here, your questions are answered. I thought I posted the explanation.
ATS is a complicated place. Not all members have the grace of a ballet dancer. Sometimes, you just have to take other people's posts with a grain of salt, and move on.
Sure they should. This particular post wasn't about a problem with ATS, however. From the OP:

Every knows that ATS is ad driven, and due to some squirmy metrics that god knows only SO can understand (lol), ads are tailored to your own websurfing habits.

The OP was complaining about an inconvenience. Not all ATS users experience the same problem, because some of us know to turn our volume to an acceptable level. Therefore, it's not a board wide problem, simply an end user one.
