How many police presincts are in the U.S.? And how many holding cells do they have in total? And how many people in total can they fit altogether?

How many county jails are in the U.S.? And how many people in total can they fit altogether?

The reason I want to know is because just maybe if we have an Occupy Jail movement also going with Occupy Wall Street, then maybe the Occupy Wall Street movement can progress in setting up tent camp after tent camp that can remain since people are without work these days.

I learned they have to let people go when it aint enough cells with space.

The country's too fat and lazy; OWS is dead, wasn't much to begin with; the real Civil War II is ideological: will we become Socialist or a Republic country or possibly split and broker relationships like Europe? Thats the real question. The bobblehead we have as president now is just as emptyheaded as the one before him, so don't look to an administration for help. The Civil War II will be fought in the state trenches.

I am not sure but you have to consider house arrest as well and the bootcamps and the elder jails now closed but less fortified ect. Interesting

Here's a little info for you:

According to BOP, its facilities were operating at 35 percent over capacity, and as of January 2011, 94 percent of high security inmates were double bunked. With an increasing inmate population in BOP institutions, officer safety is continuously at risk. To protect officers from a range of threats, BOP has taken steps, such as providing additional equipment to officers to access in an emergency and routinely conducting officer training to enhance on-the-job responsiveness. However, it is difficult for BOP to determine the impact on officer safety of the equipment it provides because it has not used existing information systems to evaluate data for this purpose.
