Now am i hearing that this has already happened???

They asked him a mish-mash of questions because they thought it would all happen at the same time, so they received a somewhat mish-mash answer.

Their questions, according to various versions of the books, included the following:
1)When would the temple be destroyed?
2)When was the End of an Age?
3)When would Christ Return?
4) When would the world end?
They assumed it would all happen at the same time, during their lifetimes.

The Abomination of the Desolation took place in 70 AD when Titus had sex with a prostitute in the Herodian Temple before having his soldiers destroy it.

History is such a wonderful thing to keep track of.

According to Matthew 24 the events of 70 AD did not fulfill the abomination of desolation prophecy. One unfulfilled detail is verse 24-14

And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Verse 15 cannot be fulfilled until after verse 14 is complete. Now I could argue that verse 14 was fulfilled in the 1940's because the nation of Israel reappeared in 1948. An end time event predicted in the old testament. Thereby being a fig leaf from the fig tree parable.

I'm afraid the theory behind this thread fails.

As I mentioned above not everything mentioned in that list stated by Christ had to be fulfilled in 70 ad, because they asked him more then one question combined together. Some of it relates to 70ad, and some of it relates to the return of Christ.

Personally, I don't buy the whole “Israel Rebirth” in the 1940's as even being mentioned in the Bible. It's very loosely based on the remark about the fig tree, and could simply be nothing more then self fulfilling prophecy. The entire time line of Futurist interpretation is based on Jesuit Counter Reformation Propaganda that the RCC came up with to hide their position in prophecy as was being pointed out by the protestant reformers of the day. It certainly was in Rome and others est interest to ensure the rebirth of Israel to show their version of prophecy was coming true.

If you want to know where the whole concept of Futurism (a future 7 year tribulation, a future antichrist, etc) came from, read about Jesuit Theologian Franciso Ribeera.

in your opinion.

in my opinion.. it has yet to be enacted... and i think it will be a zombie apocalypse when the nation of Israel is cut off from the rest of the world.. (America quarantined)... America is Israel? you say...

yes.. symbolically the American experiment.. the melting pot of combining all the 12 genetic groups that make up the original genetic code of the God-Man brought to America to recombine through the centuries...
cut off when quarantine is commanded during the abomination of zombification...

you'll laugh now... and gape your jaw in horror later...

ah history is such a wonderful thing to predict through research and careful insight.

Im with you on the rebirth of Israel. I'm not really sure if it has anything to do with it. But then I also see how man putting the Jews back in Israel even counts.... It's not "really" a country. It's a warzone since... well, forever. I dont think Isreal has been a real country since King David and Solomon.

But I also noticed that when Christ said "then the end will come".. Is it possible he meant something along the lines of what is supposed to happen in the end ... end?

Enemies vanquished, new heaven and earth, total peace, then after all is achieved, then the end will come as in ??? I dunno. Maybe thats the time for the new heaven and earth? Or is that perhaps after, as in the final end. Doesnt all things pass away at some point except that which is eternal? All but God? All?

Maybe reading into those two paraphrases too much
but I often wonder if we're not reading into it enough. Think about it, how often do we confuse one anothers words for hatred or sarcasm? I would think the same could be done there. Anything can be taken out of context.
