U.S forces invisible.

About 7 or 8 yars ago I watched a show on the discovery channel or TLC "can't remember which" about how they used fiber optics or some kind of technology to make a soldier invisable,it actually showed him running around the woods with just a slight blur,like the movie the predator, has anyone else seen that?
It never showed that program again and I was wondering why the military isn't using the technology for it's soldiers,you would think in 7 or 8 years the goverment would have perfected the technology by now.It makes you wonder how many lives could of been saved by using this technology in Iraq and afghanistan.
