Idiocracy Thread - Samples of Idiocracy at Large

I wanted to start an Idiocracy thread seeing as the US and the World are heading down the road of anti-science and anti-learning to our utter annihilation.
I am sure most of you have seen the movie. Now we get to see it acting out before our very eyes.
Samples of Idiocracy you post here need to be very cut and dried- with numbers and links (real links to bona-fide information, not b.s. generated by corporate sponsored think tanks)

I will start it with my most recent observation:

A large study was done to poll entrepreneurs as to which States in the US were the 'worst' or 'best' for business and the reasons why- either way.

One of the States, Nevada, surprised me as being very high on the list as 'worst States for Business'.
This surprised me because Nevada is well known to be a pro-business, low tax, low or lax Regulation State.

But the main reason why was stated to be "Lack of qualified, educated (3 or more years of college) work force."
Main reason, mind you, enough to dump Nevada into no mans land for any new business in the State.

A week later a headline caught my eye "University Reno raises tuition rates again"

So I go check it out and the story states that UNR raised tuitions by 13% last year. The main result of which was a 10% loss of students over the next year. Ok so now they are bleeding money AND students - which accelerates the money hemorrhage. And I guarantee fewer high end students were signing up, especially since they are also killing the Nevada Millenium Scholarships for 3.9 GPA high schoolers. Those kids are now heading over to Stanford, etc. and you can bet they won't be moving back to Nevada after they get a degree.
Way to go Nevada - GREAT recipe for complete and utter brain drain.

So UNR's way to 'fix' this whole problem is.. TA DAH! Raise the tuition 8% over NEXT year.

It's like saying.. "Oh Look! There is a little hole in the dam!" Then taking a pickaxe to it.

Meanwhile:

Nevada ranks last nationally in college graduates and only a third of the state's residents hold a post-secondary degree....Since 2007, undergraduate registration fees and tuition have increased 73 percent in Nevada.

This is about home defence laws in the UK.

Under Common Law, you can defend your home from an intruder; you do not have to wait to be attacked, nor do you have to cower in your room and pass slips of paper under your bedroom door pleading with the nice man in the hood to leave you unharmed. Emerging with the tire iron only when he refuses to leave.

The police investigate the killings where somebody has killed an intruder to make sure the person didn't invite some local druggie round to smash up their place so that they can claim insurance and so on.
(That may sound hideous to the extreme Right bred on the Daily Mail that a homeowner should even be questionned, though in my town (Croydon) a woman did invite a local chav round to murder her husband; she then walked in the room with their .22 calibre rifle and shot the hitman dead on the spot. She initially managed to escape prosecution, as people thought it was a clear cut case of self defence, until somebody found a question she'd posted on an internet forum asking how to commit the perfect murder of a relative; the answer she picked as best answer, amusingly, was one suggesting to 'hire a guy from 'da hood' and get him to knife her husband. Then she should kill him and claim self defense'.)
Needless to say, she was charged.

Why are people so ignorant of the UK's self defence laws?

The schools in my city are too busy teaching illegal aliens how to speak English, and providing breakfasts and lunches during the summer months, to care about teaching math and science. In fact, last year there were cuts, and I know of several good math and science teacher (not tenured) who were let go, but the school district kept ALL of the ESL teachers. My son was already having to drive across town to another high school to take Trig., since it was ONLY offered at 1 of the 3 schools. Idiocracy...yes. But you will have to translate to Espanol.

Providing those services should not be blamed as the cause of the other problems at the school, providing lunch and breakfast are very minor expenses compared to the money that is allocated to education (a LOT of which does not actually get to the schools and teachers). If our money was spent properly, the schools would still be able to provide for kids in need as well as have good math teachers. In America, we should be able to handle both issues without a problem.

This thread was started as a way to post examples of Idiocracy. Not to beat the 'immigration' drum or 'abortion' drum or any other drum.
I requested links and specific incidents that would not necessarily have to be of an emotionally inflammatory or personal nature that point to supposedly intelligent people or organizations acting in irrational or ignorant ways that diminish or harm society at large.

So, what you're saying is that you're only interested in things that you agree with, rather than things that are truly helping to drive the education system further and further into the abyss? I gave an example, and you decided to talk about the school sports programs. Perhaps you were saying that school sports programs leading the world into idiocracy. Am I mistaken?

Rather than teaching, and explaining the word "gay" doesn't mean "homosexual" in that context, the Orwellian changed the word, removing "gay" from the modern New Speak dictionary.

Huckelberry Finn rewritten to be politically correct
Another example of the Orwellians removing words from the world, for their New Speak dictionary.

There, you have 2 more examples of idiocracy. Two more examples of the PC crowd removing "eduction" and replacing it with "political correctness" in an attempt to rewrite the language, and dumb everyone down from critical thought.

Okay, one more. This one is classic. Hope you enjoy. This is a FINE example of idiocracy. And, knowing who they voted for, it doesn't surprise me. Classic quote, "Obama pays my welfare check."
