Gingrich emerges as clear front-runner in Iowa

DES MOINES — Propelled by his debate performances and the demise of Herman Cain’s candidacy, former House speaker Newt Gingrich sits atop the Republican presidential field in Iowa with a clear lead over his closest competitors, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Ok first off I am not in the US, so well it doesn't really affect me. But I want to know how someone like him is the front-runner.

But more than that the main reason for this post is that I found something interesting in the poll.

About halfway down the page you find the numbers about honesty.
8% to 10% more people find Ron Paul honest then Gengrich. Ron Paul has highest numbers for honesty. So if the poll is to be believed that means that people would rather choose a dishonest leader rather than a honest leader? If so it is not hard to see why the condition of US (and the world) is in the state that it is in.

It is pretty easy to figure out Republicans dont want Obama voted out of office, he has done EVERYTHING ASKED OF HIM. He isnt representing any reallity of American Thinking.

It doesn't matter what they think now, it was insane to have Bachmann, Perry, and Cain in the leads as well. There were many reasons not to vote for them yet people followed the establishment voter base. Pretty much anybody that the media is talking about, the people will like. They don't look at the facts, they just do what they're told to.


Also take into consideration the fact that when they say they're polling likely republican caucus goers, its just the same establishment republicans thats been in the party for years and years. Newly registered republicans rarely ever get polled, not to mention those without landlines will ever get to voice their sentiments.

All we need to know is that Ron is doing well and will continue to do well as long as the support base is doing their part in spreading the message.

I really just can't see Newt getting it, you know. I mean, political platforms and support aside, it just doesn't seem "right."

I think I may have that strange feeling because he had his 5 minutes and faded away and then came back. It's like he's a relic of politics past. Seems like they would want something more "fresh."
