Let's not forget something that could be the most critical of all. It is speculated that up to 3 supreme court justices will need to be put into place in the next four years. If they are all ultra conservative I saw discussions by experts saying that Roe V Wade will be gone. That is of course a huge issue and women voters especially need to consider each candidates stand.
Also if we have our supreme court move either direction too far (left or right) our system of laws is going to be very open to challenge and change the face of our legal system for generations. Especially if the new justices are younger as most agree they would be. Either legacy could last for decades.

Doesn't surprise me if Bush installed some conservative judges or high government officials before the the election in case he doesn't get elected again. It has happened in our history before and i believe it will happen again.

first the supremes are life time appointees....they decide when to retire, and seeing as how the senate must confirm any judges and they are not, I don't see how you think that can happen. And the high government officials ie...political appointees as well as being confirmed are often replaced by the next prez

Very sad that in this political year on elections the most important issues that affect our nation are pass over in the debate of who served who and who's medals are legit or not.
Pitiful, very pitiful this future of our country but public opinion is more important that domestic issues.
jazzmaster, thanks for bring it up the real issues that should be top priority in every american's mind but to sad most people don't even care.
Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind.
And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so.
