Westboro Baptist Church, you should throw down your pickets and stop preaching hatred about "God hates all fags" and boycotting soldiers funerals and any other nefarious deeds you do. It is not the will of Christ for you to waste your time spending it boycotting and picketting when his return is so very near. There are people in this country that need true and real missionary efforts to bring the message of salvation to those who have not heard it. If you want to be useful, disassemble and spread out and preach about God's love and how he so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

Your hatred and intolerance casts dark clouds over the message of salvation and conceals Christ's light to the world.

Remember "let him amoung you who has no sin cast the first stone", The message has always been about forgiveness. There is no forgiveness if you persecute those youre trying to bring to God through Christ. You do not have to agree with their ways, but you are required to preach the word each and every one of you but that word is the message of salvation, the good news and the reason for all people to rejoice, that Christ came to save all men should they believe in him. Westboro, you make it hard for us to be fishers of men if you keep scaring away the fish. Throw down your pickets and take up your cross, there is work to be done and your time is being wasted.

"Your hatred and intolerance "

They don't see it as hatred . They see it as doing the work of thy father or w/e there cup of tea is .

This quote applies to baptist church members , and will help you understand why they are the way they are.

"you can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into "

Now you understand why they are in the midsts of ignorance

Their mission is not to boycott funerals or spreading hatred. Their mission is to goad others into doing something they can sue them for.

Fred Phelps is an attorney, but was disbarred for questionable practices. His daughter is an attorney and I don't know how many others.

You speak the truth LoneWolf: And boldly: Westboro needs seriously consider your warning.

There are many in this world that are deceived:
Deceit: "to cause to accept as true or valid what is false or invalid "

Clearly Westboro is professing a false doctrine. they speak no salvation through mercy or grace.
Indeed all they offer is hatred and deceive themselves into thinking they are the spokespersons of a Holy God.
My God does not hate: He loves. He does hate sin, but not the person who does the sin. Hence every single one of us can easily be saved despite what evil we may have done. Even your hate can be forgiven Westboro:

Heed the warning of LoneWolf Westboro:

I will add but only a little to it in hopes you will learn to love instead of hate

Soon Comes a horse....

He will not be pale; He will be green [Chloros] Hell will follow with him.
We have little time to get our affairs in order. Make no mistake, Anyone who speaks for God and does so presumptuously will be held to account.
God knows your works Westboro as he knows the works of everyone and you profess hatred.
Hate breeds hate, and love breeds love.
If there be any vengance; It is only of God.

Westboro Baptist Church members just need some understanding.....while they're audited, investigated and generally harassed right out of the nation's collective misery. They aren't a Church in any sense the rest of us would understand it, or I'd never suggest such a thing. They are an oversize, inbred family posing as a Church. The only thing Baptist about them is that title they print on their church signs and stationary.

I normally have a serious disliking for the Anti Defamation League. Not least of which is for how they view Americans who happen to be much further right than Obama himself. However, on the WBC, they are rather succinct and on the money:

Incorporated in 1967 as a not-for-profit organization, WBC considers itself an “Old School (or Primitive)” Baptist Church. WBC’s leader is Fred Phelps and several of his children and dozens of his grandchildren appear to constitute the majority of the group’s members. WBC has no official affiliation with mainstream Baptist organizations.
ADL page on the Westboro Baptist Church

I agree entirely with the thread. Disassembly of their pickets sounds perfectly reasonable......by legal means and arrest, if necessary. They'd be run through in a heartbeat if they were picketing other group's funerals or had other religious affiliations in their cross hairs for this kind of hate speech and disorderly conduct.

I am curious about something: Perhaps someone more involved in law could help:
There recently was a hate crimes bill passed. Making it illegal for any hate crime.
Isn't standing on any corner with a sign of hatred for any single group considered hatred?
If their signs say "God hates xxxx" are they not professing hatred for a single group of people?
Or do their signs have to say "I hate xxxx" how are they getting around so much hatred when we have passed hate crimes laws? Truly I am baffled to be sure.

Dear members of Westboro Baptist, your Son of God has taught me much! May I extend to you the inspiring words of Jesus Christ I recite to myself about those I feel negativity towards:

"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;"

I don't agree with your picketings, but I understand and love you.

Peace.

The Phelps family will not change their stance as they continue to push the boundaries of free speech. Let them have their due for the time being. In, say 400 years from now no one will have ever known they existed, they will grace no history books nor have statues erected in their memory. They are but whispers on the notes of life. Save your anger and outrage for greater purposes.

We all know what they are about and what they do, move on and dont get sucked into their stagnating vortex of clever ignorance and baiting.

You've hit the nail precisely on the head there, my friend. By hiding behind the facade of being a church, they can't be prosecuted for what they claim to believe. In fact, the SCOTUS has declared their hateful spewings protected speech.

It does not apply to all Baptists. I myself am of a missionary baptist church that is working towards unification, we do not preach or focus on burning in hellfire. If people don't want the free gift of salvation that is their choice we aren't going to use scare tactics to shove it down your throats.

Well there is a technicality...the first ammendment's rights to free speech which protesting falls under and its the ammendment they abuse the most. Hate crimes typically fall under violence or any criminal act, perpetrated against people for their religious beliefs, skin color, sex, sexual ortientation or national origin.

free gift of salvation lol ?

No thanks.

I believe in self responsiblity . I don't need anyone else to take my sins and burdon . Every man should be rewarded and punished for his own doing in his life here .

i don't want a free pass with "salvation" thats the eazy lazy way out .

Well that is your choice and your right. Personally i don't want to be punished for the things i have done. I wasn't always a good person. I'd rather have redemption. Better to seek forgiveness and atone than to wallow in what you've wrought. I am not going to wallow in what i have done, thank God for Jesus Christ.

jesus was a messenger ?

salvation should lay between you and god .

not a third party ? I don't like jesus taking my sins , thats not right. If thats not right why would i go to jesus for salvation ?

God doesn't send his "son" on suicide missions for "salvation" that would be absurd , and i would never accept gods "heaven" on such a basis .
