The inventor made everything himself except the barrel and I imagine the original .50 BMG cases.

The rifle, with just a 16.25" barrel, can push the 1132 grain of lead up to 2300 fps. Thats 13,000 ft/lbs of energy, right up there with the .50 BMG and far exceeding the .700 Nitro Express. The cast lead bullet has enough energy to pass clean through a 1/4" steel plate.

Cybermen and Daleks.

I'm sure it's more than enough to crack an engine block wide open too.

Uses aside the fact that it's a home workshop gun is great.
Could be an awesome PSA for math education and way to sell drill presses and xy tables over Xboxs and TV's.

I like the guys 20mm Vulcan rifle that was made awhile ago.

www.anzioironworks.com...

I think that's the gun I'd use for Dinosaur's.

Punching 1/4 inch steel plating! is not that hard i have done it with a black powder .58 hawkens rifle.

.700 cal =17.78mm

In Calif you are limited to 50 cal cartridge guns.

So i am going to have to wait till i move to Texas to build one

What the point is?
Because you can.

Not to mention that fact that he made it.

I've punched through 1/4 inch steel plating with XM855 5.56mm rounds.

The hole was small though and I wouldn't count on the round being able to do it time after time.

Depends on the grade of steel I suppose.

Nice toy but completely useless. I wonder how much each round cost. I also wonder how long it took him to build.

The most important point besides simply having a hobby for the reason anyone has a hobby is like the Draco pistol, the .950 JDJ, Franklin XO-26b, and a sleu of other "pointless" firearms they serve to flaunt the uselessness and arbitrary nature of the BATFE regulations and laws forcing the federal government to admit defeat or impose comically draconian legislation that risks riling up the masses. The Franklin pseudo-AOW and the Draco pseudo-AOW are obvious trouble makers but the crazy large caliber rifles are important for walking the fine line between rifle and destructive device. A line that is vague and basically stupid. So more power to every builder and hobbits willing to thumb their nose at lord almighty BATFE.

I would argue that a playstation or any other gaming console is much more useless then something you could use as a tool.......

I like to target shoot I don't care much for video games though. I guess it goes to show you they are both considered fantasy. As far as I know there arn't any dinosaurs any more, anyway it looks fun. For myself I wouldn't call it a tool.

yes bears when when the polar pack melts for good you can bet they will come south looking for food.
you say there is no pirpose for this gun doesn't mean one won't crop up.. eho knows aliens might show up and we will need extra heavy fire power to stop them.

I have to admit I never thought about bears. That would be an excellent weapon for bear country. Most rifles I see of that caliber are very bulky. So I take back my useless statement. If you came up with a semi automatic version that would be even better. I think it would add too much weight to the rifle.

They should call it the polar bear proper.

On a side note I had heard reports of polar bears breading with grizzlies so there may be a market for this. Kudos.
