Stars Flags and Troll Points

Just don't star something you think is trolling.
And hit the 'alert' button.
No need to throw mud with 'troll points'.

There is too much accusations flying around about trolls.
Seems to me on the large part ,there are too many on ATS
that shout troll if they don't like thread or a post.

Since people can't vote away the stars or flags awarded on a posted thread ...
How about a simple thumbs up or a thumbs down vote added to the stars and flag system.

I think a simple red X system located right below the star system would be nice. You could get a combination of both which would be pretty interesting.

People have an awfully loose interpretation of what a troll really is.

Most people on ATS assume "trolling" is what happens when their back-patting party is interrupted by someone who doesn't agree with the overall thread consensus.

So basically this would be a bad idea.

Why do we even have stars and flags?
Do members need a sticker or a badge saying welldone everytime they post a thread?
You need a pat on the back everytime you roll over?
The only thing the flag and star system does is make it easier for one liners and harder for posts with actual substance.
Whereas before you'd stop and read the long post, now you don't have to as someone will post a funny one liner stating the OP is ridiculous (according to them) and everyone will star that post.
The next set of people that come into the thread wont even bother reading the long post after 15 people have starred the post under it claiming it to be false or whatever.

We all say that having negative stars and flags is no good as people will gang up and hand out negative stars and flags like candy and I agree.
But....
Isn't that happening already?
Ain't people ganging up and starring eachother or a few peeps all going to star the one liner in a post?

As much as I like this site, sometimes it's obvious.

Ats should dump the whole flag and star system.
