I agree not much can be known until we actually go there. I wouldn't hold your breath though, given the fact Obama cut NASA's funding, so we have to rely on the Russians and, dare I say it...the Chinese.

Seriously though there is something going on there. Either primitve life, or some kind of inteligent ET. Just a thought though.
.........................................................................................................
SloAnPainful, I certainly agree with your last statement. I have seen enough to know, without any doubt in my own mind, that Mars either is, or has been a place with intelligent life, as we know it. I know many of us do see things differently, but, certainly not all of the time.

FWIW, I recently have made several Mars Anomaly posts in the ATS "Space EXploration" forum. If you, and others here with similar interests haven't seen them yet, there might be something there you might like to see.

After spending some time here, at the ATS Alien and UFO forum, I am thinking this maybe is the best forum for such posts.

It is, no question about it. Here youy can get a great discussion going with many smart people. I was a lurker on ATS before I joined and started my own disucssions and joined others peoples. Great website though.

Back on topic. It is quiet obvious Mars had life at one time, most likely surface dwelling race. IF indeed the material compositiion on the subsurface is indeed enough to harbour life forms, then once again, I say it is possible there is something down there. We need men/women to venture there to see it with their own eyes. (However we prolly wouldn't hear about it for sometime, if they did find anything, if at all.)

Most def! I would have to say the more the merrier and the more we can get done. Fact is we need more then some slow moving porbe/drone to find out anything really...

You could even go so far as to change the thread title to "Life on Mars may live underground" without fear of contradiction.

Present tense or past tense, either way it sends the message that something may be down under the red rock muck.

This kind of thing always happens. A President or candidate talks big about zooming through space like Luke Skywalker to get the over-educated, white collar welfare nerds all excited, then cuts funding back to as little as possible just enough still keep those guys employed and not selling their skills to Iran. I think every President since Kennedy has had to do this as a way to show their wonderful far-reaching "vision" for America's technological future. Politics. People will never learn.

It would be nice to find some ET life, though. Even it it's little microbes, although that would get boring pretty fast. It doesn't take long for incredible wonders to become commonplace these days.

The only way to ever get any real money for space travel is if we declare war on the Moon or Mars. That always seems to generate a lot of quick cash. But then we get it in the hands of the military, and they're an even more secretive bunch than NASA/JPL. Who even knows what they're up to in space these days, 'cause they ain't tellin'!

Well the NAVY has a laser that is capable of sending power to a Moon Base... That one is declassified

Now why would the NAVY need such a laser?

Well Obama says NASA can't send people to the Moon and not to Mars for at least 25 years... So that's that. Mind you we did say years ago when they were planning those new missions that they would come up with some excuse not to go... executive order works

Then you have to ask yourself WHY does NASA use stuff like this in a presentation to scientists? Kinda IN YOUR FACE

And opinion on Mars is definitely strongly against NASA

So expect no disclosure in our lifetime

NASA = Need Another Space Agency

So the mars rover launches on saturday? and how long will it take to get to mars?

Or... is it landing on mars on saturday??

Cant wait for this

I don't know. In this day and age, I'm not quite sure why they even need aircraft carriers anymore. From my experience, the military just likes to HAVE stuff. Just in case.

P.S. -- I can see a laser powering a Moon base, but can't the same thing basically be done with the Sun? Without the worry of a power outage?

Yes in fact the NAVY flew a tether satellite at the same time the NASA STS75 failure flew. While everyone was watching those NASA UFO's, the NAVY was testing shooting lasers at them to test power transmission.

Collect energy in space, beam it ship to ship or back to earth. We did a thread about that, but the good threads get buried here
I even had someone make a Naval Space Command thread here and he used my material that was copied at another site
Took all the way to page 3 before someone pointed ut that the original source was ATS

Heck its already made Wikipedia

Space-based solar power

Space-based solar power (SBSP) is the concept of collecting solar power in space for use on Earth. It has been in research since the early 1970s.

I guess that's why someday we'll be sending troops into the Sahara to "liberate" all that land, because we'll need a nice big place out in the open near the Equator, away from everybody, to collect the energy. Microwave laser shot from a satellite. As long as it doesn't end up blasting unwanted holes in our atmosphere, I guess it would be a pretty good, clean power source. Still have to distribute the power though. That will always be a problem. Where's the Telsa guy?

I think the Moon is too far away to be useful, though.

This guy knows a lot about life on mars and you can read his writings here:
gillevin.com...

He knows a lot more about it than we do.

I hope he remains alive long enough to see the truth, one way or another.

I can't think of anybody else that's so closely tied to the search for life on mars.

I know he can't be alone. These're interesting times. Depend on whether we fine life on mars or not, it will have a profound impact on what we send there and how mars fits into our plans.

Here is another tantalizing link:

That's a fascinating read RE: micro-organism potential on Mars.

I think what is known about Mars, and its evidence of past millenia that show a phase in the planet's life of a dense enough atmosphere to at one time [Perhaps BILLIONS and BILLIONS of years ago] to have sufficient surface atmospheric pressure.....BUT, and here's the BIG BUT!!!

It is pretty well recognized that that "habitable" surface period on that planet was, unlike the Earth, insufficient to allow very complex biota and "sustained ecosystems" time to develop...as much as we wish to "imagine" this possibility.

However, microbrial organisms? Purely plausible on that planet......

What about the prospects of life being transported from earth to mars through some mechanism? I am sure astrobiologists or whatever they're called could explain how that might happen.

Or what about life in venus's atmosphere? So many possibilities.

We just don't have a strong enough space program to know yet. I wait eagerly!

Every moment we waste means another person dies that wanted to see this their whole life! People have been wondenig about this issue for how long? It tickled their soul, right?

We don't need manned missions. We just need a strong space program. (astrobiology!)

But I think manned missions will happen anyway. Eventually, we'll have manned colonies.

Just look at robotics. It's improving daily. Vastly. There's less and less need for people on these missions. That's not to say we don't need humans. We must not lose our humanity.

They talk about war and global warming and disease too much. They should talk about the more optimistic things and the accomplishments. People are making progress every day. Civilization is far ahead of where it was hundreds of years ago. Our quality of life is much better.

Have to keep our heads up. Children aren't the only ones that should smile.

I'm not calling for vast sums of money to be spent in this direction at the expense of hard working people or education or healthcare or earthly concerns. ALL things matter. Together. We will move at our own pace. Will eventually get there. People will always have dreams.

All of this makes me sound self-absorbed. I probably am. Space is so interesting. I really do respect everybody, no matter what they do. It's just that for me.. the REASON we all work so hard.. is the future! Without that reason, for me, there's nothing left. There's nothing to live for if not for the future. The future represents overcoming today's challenges. But more than that, it means stretching our imagination to understand where humans are going and what it means. For example, if we see increasing robotics technology, what does that mean? It means we need to use robotics in our business and in our lives both effectively and soundly. It means preparing for this reality and retaining our humanity in the process. It means thinking ahead.

I will just focus on this VERY plausible analogy:

What about the prospects of life being transported from earth to mars through some mechanism?

The mechanism of any such interplanetary transfers of material are well understood....called "orbital mechanics". Especially, and THIS IS IMPORTANT back Billions and Billions of years ago, in the EARLY formation stages of our home Solar System.

Though in fact, the concept of "panspermia" might work in many "directions"..... both "Mars to Earth" or maybe....vice versa?

We have much still to ponder, as we learn the science....beauty of science is, answers are there, eventually......

Info revealed. This is a negative image so what appears to be a shiny helmet(neg) is in (positive/original) just rocks. However faces, whether in Pos or Neg to me are just as valid. There are a lot of variables to percentage of certainty about what is seen in the images and how likely living or dead Mars creatures are seen in each frame. This frame seems like a party atmosphere.

People forget that Tesla still needed generating stations from which to transmit the power from
Then all that power beamed around town added to the other radio and microwaves. Then you need devices to collect that transmitted energy...

So much for 'free' energy

What about climate change?

What I have heard people say about the Mars photos is that it looks as though there used to be water on Mars. Lots of gullies and things like that.

80 million years ago on earth there was an extinction event. Something like that could have happened to Mars. And it could have been even worse.

We have the technology to build underground bases on earth. We build them underground for reasons of security and secrecy. It could be the same on Mars. Or the Moon. Or any body that has the least chance of having a base built on it. There is always the option (in an invasion-type scenario) that life on a planet depends on high-tech bases rather than the natural conditions on the surface.

Of course, there is also the info we are getting from various non-science sources. Why aren't these even considered as possible hypotheses for scientific examination? (You don't have to answer that.)

"Higher beings" talking through humans:

Among the "off world" groups, there is total consensus that there was once a civilization on Mars. Most say that Mars was once a water planet, but that "something happened" to change that.

Black ops whistle blowers:

Like Basagio, Neumann, and that guy in Australia. They all say that they have been to a base on Mars. It exists right now (though they use some sort of time warp device to travel there) and it's basically a secret military base.

Human Memory:

Various people have had past life memories of going to Mars or being on Mars. Some say there was an implant station there where they kept "bodies in pawn." Some, like Boriska, just remembered being there.

From my point of view there is a LOT of "evidence" that life exists in all sorts of forms all over the gosh darn place.

"Science" is not interested because it is convenient for TPTB to keep this data "fringe."

Getting useful data out of science these days is like squeezing blood from a rock. That needs to change.

Meanwhile, I just suggest you expand your horizons of what data is worth considering. If an ordinary guy walked up to you and told you his name was "John" would you call in a scientist to find evidence that this was true? Would you demand his ID card? And if he presented one, would you believe it? The fact is, people and organizations of good intent tend to be honest. People and organizations of bad intent tend to lie. If you want the truth, don't limit yourself to "science." Seek out the people of good intent.
