had a visit from a ranger yesterday.
there is a cougar that has been poking around the ranch down below.
few chickens gone, i think a goat also disapeared. anyhow, they want to catch it and transfer it elsewhere.
i've known of this cat for at least 5 years, she lives in a canyon about 2 miles into the wilderness from my place.
i've watched her on the rock outcrop in front of her den many times.
i've watcher her little ones play for hours.
i've seen her tracks on my property a few times, yet have never had a problem.
the ranger asked if i had seen the cat, i told him no.
i'm not sure that was the right move, though. after dealing with the whole mexican grey wolf reintroduction, and witnessing how the forest serve deals with things, figured it was better not to get involved.
problem is, this is the only cougar left in my area. i know my area and this is it.
there is a male up near sheep corral canyon, which is about 15 miles up river.
it wasn't much more than 100 years ago there was still grizzlys this far south.

I salute you for saving the cougar!
What would they need her for anyway -
to experiment on her, cage her up,
harm her in the process.
I would have loved to see her in front
of her den. Do you see the little ones
around? Hope so!
