Defenders of the Second Amendment are on the lookout for a new Democrat campaign, already attempted in one state, to brand handguns as �weapons of mass destruction.�
Washington Gov. Gary Locke, picked by the Democrats to give their response President Bush�s State of the Union address just a couple of months ago, urged his state's Legislature to create six terror-related crimes that would bring guns under the legal definition of weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

Though the legislation offered by the governor and Attorney General Christine Gregoire did not mention specific weapons, Join Together Online, an anti-gun group, reported the legislation defined a weapon of mass destruction as a �device, object, or substance that a person intends to use to cause multiple human deaths.�

Here is how the Seattle Times on March 15 led its story on how the Legislature dealt with the issue: �An anti-terrorism bill has spurred a debate among lawmakers: Is a gun a weapon of mass destruction?�

In response to the governor, several Democrat lawmakers crafted House Bill 1210 to include firearms as weapons of mass destruction.

The state legislators cited last October�s sniper attacks in the District of Columbia area as their foot in the door to try to deprive law-abiding citizens of their Second Amendment rights. The snipers had ties to the Seattle area.

Good god, this is ridicoulous. They are already trying to ban shotguns in Illinois. In the words of Charlton Heston "They can take my gun from my cold dead hands."

I've the same problem. The socialiSSt, in the EU, try to do as their US counterpart, the democrats.

They will never get our weapons. The Constitution of USA garuantees that for US citizens, I don't know about the rest of you. I would like to see these countries perform they way they were meant.

Most assuredly, PA. Problem is, most people are clueless when it comes to this nation and how it was intended and have no idea what a "right" is. You hear more about fictitious notions such as "Freeom of expression" and "Constitutionally mandated speration of church and state" than anything else. The present day "Thomas Jefferson" is a rebel without a clue attempting to destroy any moral standard that made this nation strong while attempting to replace the free enterprise and capitalist system with socialism.

Another problem is that the firearm isn't such a necessity in the household as it used to be and is looked at as a frivolous expense for the rednecks and nutcases of the society. What you and I see as an obligation to the constitution many see as a waste of money and a hassle, those who haven't been sissified to the point to where they are afraid of weapons.

By the way, that "Cold Dead Fingers..." quote was around long before Heston was the NRA president. I was wearing a belt buckle with that on it in the 70's. Very late 70's, before any of you young turks decide you want to call me old.
And I was very young when I wore that belt, too.

What? No counter-points by the anti-gun people. This seems like a one-sided thread.

I for one am for the freedom to own a gun. I think there should be classes that you have to take to own one. Some states have these classes but not all. I don't use my weapon as a means of defense, I use it as a tool to hunt.

If guns are banned, which they won't be any time soon, then there will be either-
a) one hell of a rebellion(most likely)
b) one hell of a lot of car accidents(from hitting big game)

If they label my hand gun as a "WMD", they may see a hell of a lot of "WMD" flying their way...
