Is it the Missing Link?

While browsing through old newspapers I came upon this article that I thought was very interesting. The description certainly sounds like a Bigfoot. Could this be the remains of a Bigfoot? To me, the article is confusing. I'm not sure whether it's a petrified body or what. The article doesn't say how it was found, unfortunately. I'm posting it here for your thoughts and opinions.

Note how it describes the object using the word "statuary".

In the years after the "Cardiff Giant" fake of 1869, a bunch of others were made in various places around the world.
Yours may be a reference to the Solid Muldoon fake from Colorado in 1877.

HERE there is a photo, and the description seems to fit.
- occipital region of the skull enormously developed.
- brow is broad but slopes suddenly
- the left hand and wrist lie apon the thigh
- right hand crooked at the elbow.. lies across the chest.

etc...

That is a fascinating article.

From what I gather, the people examining it weren't sure if it was a petrified body or a statue of some kind. The description is very good and does sound a lot like the descriptions that I've seen of Bigfoot.

I would be very interested in finding out more about where and how it was found. Also, I'm curious if it is still around.

Where was the Herald and Torch Light published? Was it a local paper from Colorado?

Interesting, but the newspapers of the 19th century were chock full of made up stories along these same lines.

Come to think of it, newspapers are still chock full of made up stories...only the subject matter has changed.

And I bet the readers of The Herald and Torch Light on 12-27-1877 sent letters to the editor stating "pictures or it didn't happen". LOL

Cool hoax. Looks like an ancient alien sculpture.

Wow...that sounds like it's exactly the same thing. It's a hoax for sure.
