Yes, they are everywhere, especially where there's power over others. They love to control the minds of others. 2012 is perfect for them, so many people waiting to be helped, just like helpless damsels in distress... you can take your pick. Would you like to offer ascension? A bunker? Perhaps mass suicide is your forte? The list is endless. Money's flowing, the minds are indoctrinated, independent thinking is arrested. The question is: how can one differentiate between ''legit'' lightworkers (for lack of a better term) and the impostors/predators? That is the question, and not everyone's got the necessary acumen to wade through all the dirt.

Yeah I figured this out shortly after registering to ATS. I sure took in a lot of hooey for about a year, then started to drop off the programming one irrational thought at a time.

There's a ton of phonies when you're dealing with anything esoteric. There's definitely more than your normal share of psycho's and narcissists on this site.

Hey.....loved the threads, seemed almost tailored to my thinking about certain things...and then the u2u...troll much?? I wouldn't call you on it, except that where I think you were heading with it is quite disheartening, if not outright perversely insuting..all rather subtle, you know. and I woud extend you a benefit of doubt if it were not for the fact that someone in my locale had a similar experience with the same story this same evening, on a u2u, saying the same.
Now, I dont know what you are tryng to achieve, but I think I clearly outlined for you what my preferences were.
See, if you are trying to catch the sick ones ...well, I think that more and more in our culture, while espousing the right motives to end some violence or perversion, people are actually feeding it, instead.....like every murder show on television that shows the heroes of law enforcement trying to stop the violence while feeding a prurient perversity ti watch it at the same time.
So, whatever your motives are or rationalizations for your true motives, as the British say, bugger off. and soliciting for a perv can make you a perv.

And some incredibly vague conversation that you say you overheard is suppose to convince me that enlightenment and anything related to it is a sham.

Do some people take advantage and try to make a buck, using such words? In our day and age, unfortunately, yes.

Does that make the entire concept of enlightenment - and all the other concepts thrown into the reply posts in this thread a sham? Of course not.

You could subsitute another word for enlightened and it would still work. To me it just looks like you described how humans interact nothing else. We are preety simple beings not all that complicated. What is wild is the number of people that don't know this.

I noticed the ban when looking at their profile page. I have no idea why ATS did what they did, when they did. I would only be guessing - but I did find the careful reading of this thread and one of the replies referencing trolls, scripts and u2us very interesting.

I know what you mean. I ignore all of the 2012 stuff. I've only seen newbies on the spiritual path fall for it (or Bible fans who are searching for signs of the apocalypse.) No one who claims to be wise has an ounce of wisdom. Any self-proclaimed being of wisdom is usually selling something or looking for some followers to stroke their ego.

In reading the comments, many are speaking as if they believe that some people are enlightened. What the heck? Enlightened must mean you had your teeth bleached the way this word is so casually tossed around.

People who sought wisdom used to be called 'truth seekers'. Today, you could label many of the new ones as 'truth followers'. They subscribe to an 'authority' and fight over whether or not that authority is trustworthy instead of chewing on actual wisdom. The truth is something you have to realize for yourself. Looking outside of yourself for someone to show you the way is the opposite of seeking truth.

I just noticed that the OP is banned. I must admit that something about the ouija board story didn't sit right.I didn't want to disrespect the OP if that really was a true story. Reality is a bit strange at times. Yet, it seemed like something you'd think up to post in order to gain attention. I imagined whomever invented that tale laughing hysterically over the whole deal. I was as open minded as I could be, but the feeling appears to be more accurate than my attempt at acceptance of that story that seemed straight out of the Weekly World News.
