Yes, there is a large amount of faked nasa footage at the moment, which the populus are swallowing up as genuine.

Why and for what purpose would NASA fake this particular footage?

You can look at space threads on this site, about 50% will imply that NASA is corrupt. Putting out this kind of footage will 'desensitize' the populous when there more exotic footage is released. It is clearly computer generated - i'm surprised you can't see someone walking along the great wall of china with a flashlight.

No one questions this footage - why? Because everyone is conditioned to believe it. Question everything.
