Wow! This is wonderful news! I'm surprised they actually passed something in favor of the people. Now, we can feel safe wherever we travel.

I do have my doubts though that the government will leave our rights alone, they probably will try to screw it up somehow, somewhere along the way.

I watched the arguments on the house floor the other day for this bill Hr.822? The democrats came out in numbers against this bill with every argument perceivable, None of the democrats mentioned anything like what you just stated in their arguments. There was one Republican though whom said the same as you did. I also was wondering when watching the arguments could this backfire in way such as you mentioned. I bet it could.

So thats makes 3 people you, me , and the congressman from VA ? that think this is a very stupid idea.

The congressman (R) stated that "We do not need a federal laws for a CCW, most of the states that have CCW laws are solvent states. These states already have agreements with each other who can carry in what state( He spoke out the states names and their relation to other states for the ccw) The states would be giving up some of that solvency to the federal government , which could impose additional laws or take away the laws of thoes states" In addition The congressman said it would just cost Tax payers more money for the enforcement of these new laws; "we do not need another agency and bigger government"

Then this same congressman went on about, "The training will have to be all the same for every state, More in detailed background checks that could take years" ( background checks had been suggested to be done by the DHLS in this debate.) Then there was talk about weapons inspections ( my personl thought- this is where they take your weapons that do not comply with DHLS saftey standards. ) The congressman had a laundry list of items on how much it would cost the tax payers.

Then some other congressman was yielded to the floor, and stated" This could be another attack on the 2nd amendment, right now we are in hearings with the justice department or have some of you people forgot. I yield the floor"

So, then (R) congressman sponsoring this bill kept on rambling about his 10 years as sheriff, about the hood, hookers, drugs, honest citizens. and then I turned it off.

This is not a good idea people. The democrats where in their regulating the heck out this bill as it was being debated, should it pass. Safety inspections, DHLS, Getting some sort of legal background checks before you enter the state California or states that do not have CCW laws.( big buck you dish out for that alone) Federal yearly fess in addition to state fees. you will also pay the cost of finger prints for every agency known to man, cross referencing your background with international checks ,( interpol was suggested) what weapons can be carried by caliber under a federal ccw permit. Then someone said something banning anything that is over 45 caliber for a handgun. This person was more emphasizing on no more manufacturing of any hand gun over 45 calibers, should the law pass. ( my personal thought - this will lead to no manufacturing of any handgun) Everyone did agree that shot guns and rifles should not be included for obvious reason. Another person jumped in that was yielded to the floor and said. "Not so fast they saw off shotgun barrels, those can be concealed . Did anyone watch this besides me. ? You guys see where this could lead in fast way.

I sure I got most of these quotes correct from memory. I was glued watching this debate in one of the house chambers the other day on C-span. It was a very heated debate.

Exactly! Scary that more republicans don't see it.

My Florida concealed permit is valid in 37 states with a few small tweaks from state to state. Just a few years ago it was only about 20 and they had major discrepancies to watch out for.

Any state that has extremely restrictive laws isn't likely a place for me anyway.

Florida has also opened up the law regarding parks and state property.

Things were getting very good, we don't need federal interference.
