ICE HSI Investigation Leads To Discovery of Arizona Smuggling Tunnel

www.ice.gov

NOGALES, Ariz. – An active drug smuggling tunnel was located and shut down here Tuesday following a multi-agency probe spearheaded by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

The U.S. entrance to the tunnel was concealed beneath the front porch of a home located approximately one-half mile west of the DeConcini Port of Entry.

So-Solly Charlie, it's time to fill in your tunnels, no more drugs.

Forgive my facetious sense of humor for a moment.

Personally, I think they should be using sonar equipment, finding all tunnels.

Shut down the drug-flow into America altogether.

Then again, if you're not going to go after the source, you're wasting money.

There have been major hits for the last six months on drugs coming into America.

Billions of tons of drugs snagged at the border.

I wonder why they're actually doing their jobs now.

Considering they were sitting on their laurels for the last 50 years.

Interesting.

Looks like the American government is weeding out the competition

They must have noticed a drop in profits. Blame the economy

Pun intended?

Yes, the Government always hates competition, especially for corruption.

Crash the economy and then reap slush fund profits.

Interesting that this got moved due to the nature of the topic.

I may re-write the entire opening thread now.

Bring it around to tunneling and drug smuggling.

Some things come into my mind here.

1) I would say that most "confiscated" drugs are from renegade smugglers who are competing with the main established cartels.

2) The renegades are selling and transporting at cheaper rates.

3) Normal business runs that way sometimes, like a store putting a competitor out business with cheaper prices.
(Wal-Mart comes to mind as an example)

4) As major confiscations happen, the street prices stay high.

example:

Cities where bookies are not legal do the same thing.

The big well connected bookies that have the payoffs in place always seem to get the renegade bookies raided and arrested by authorities, while the dues paying bookies stay in business.

My first thought when I saw this was that the recent diplomatic problems between the American government and some of the Central and South American countries may be causing it to snow a little less often stateside if you know what I mean.

Even Bolivia Won't Do Business With The DEA Anymore

The Americans have a smaller supply than they're used to meanwhile the renegades are flooding the market and causing prices to lower. The Americans are stuck with less product and are watching the the renegades collect record profits.

U.S. intelligence is not as stupid as it make itself out to be. They know about these tunnels and other distribution methods and shut them down whenever they please.

You're speaking of "narco-economics" and the black market value.

Make something, anything illegal, and automatically supply and demand increase.

It has been done with countless "products" over the centuries.

It is an anti-authoritarian aspect of society that will never diminish.

If the U.S. Government truly wanted the "War on Drugs" to end they would go after the suppliers.

That would be Columbia, the Golden Triangle in Asia, and the Golden Crescent in the Middle East.

yep, that's it !

I think the CIA fronts are the liaison between the cartels in different countries and the U.S./Canada.

The U.S. military is the seal of "good housekeeping" power that has superiority over the other groups..

That all depends upon your perspective of course.

The Central Intelligence Agency funds criminals to get into power.

Then uses their foreign policy in order to seek funding to push to remove the "threat".
