I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere. I did a search but didn't find a thread on this exact thought.

Over the years, I have heard people talk about how when the world is in dire conditions, some huge media scandal will happen to distract us. I never really believed that until now.
After reading and listening to news about the Penn State allegations, I am horrified at the details. Why are these UNTHINKABLE actions just now surfacing? Does it take something this horrific to distract us from world events even if it's just a moment or two?

For those who don't know of the allegations, here is a recent link that kinda breaks everything down...

In my opinion, most likely. It always seems to be a trend that we get a media blackout when things start to ramp up.

I see it this way, if they cover a topic for longer than a week, we're probably missing something important.

Excellent post!

I was watching ABC news tonight and I had these exact thoughts.
"With all the crap going on in the world right now, why is the media focused so hard core on this one little incident"?

The media does have a tendency to focus on subjects like this while avoiding all of the major subjects or only giving minor airtime to them.

Don't get me wrong, if the allegations are true than it is indeed a travesty. However the world has more pressing concerns such as war etc.

I really do feel strongly that it is being utilized as a distraction or smokescreen tactic.

Also I wouldn't trust their angle of approach either, they typically twist things or skew them.

When I saw your title, I said to myself, Dang!

I completely missed looking at it this way. I guess the whole 'pedophile' thing just made me not want to pay attention.

Very good looking out!

would be a coverup if it were not the fact little boys were violated, how can this scumbag situation be considered a coverup? So the boys being raped aren't worth the coach being busted? How is this a cover-up. This is absurd to even consider.

That's an understatement.

Imagine how complex and intricate your own life is, and then multiply all of your entire existence by billions, and this is beginning to get closer to the true reality but it still fails to conceptualize the grand scheme of it all.

Think of everything going on around you right this moment in your own little section of the world. Now imagine what it must be like for the person next door. Do this a few billion times. By the time you can imagine another person's existence, they are already doing something else!

There is so much going on right now, it's totally obvious that the news focusing on some little story is a smoke screen to the incredible diversity of reality that exists!

How many years ago did this happen?

And now to come out one game before Paterno retires?

I had considered who figured to come out on top, here, and thought maybe they were saving a bunch on Joe's retirement; but that makes no sense as the big money alums were implicated.

It's not a cover up, it's a smoke screen.

There are wars going on, disease and pestilence, famine, etc.

Economics, politics, science, etc etc.

We all already agree that pedophilia is wrong and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. What is there to discuss? Either he did it or he didn't, and we should allow law enforcement to gather the facts and to present them for the courts to decide his fate. It certainly doesn't justify weeks worth of coverage.

Now, in the event that the 'charity organization' that is connected with this event is actually a clearing house for pedophilia (one of the allegations going around), than sure there is legitimacy for further investigation and coverage into those other aspects and finding more criminals.

Open your mind and think about the grand scheme of Earth, sure it's impossible to conceive but we can at least give it a shot and try.

Good point. I often try and visualize a vast piece of existence at once and it's just mind blowing.

But my take is like this: There is no yesterday, and you can't have tomorrow until you do something NOW

Yes it is mind blowing! My brain simply cannot even begin to fathom it at all!

And then trying to imagine what it must be like on alien planets, it's just mind-melting!

The human brain is simply not wired to do it. We can try, and I admit, it's really a fun mental exercise.

it is at the very least a distraction. It is at the most a deliberate act by media to both misinform, and aide tptb in continued zeal to control. When the news came on this evening I turned it up just to listen. I was at the table eating supper at the time Or it would not have been on since my son was here and wanted to listen.
Anyway I asked my wife what it was about this story of Penn State that could possibly be so important it was the leading headline in every newspaper and on TV....for over a week...? No one seemed to know.
I do. I know exactly what is going on. ....Something is either happening now, or getting ready to happen that requires America to center in on a Child Molester rather than say, oil hitting 200 a barrel. Or Israel or the US attacking Iran.
These people supplying this news...and it does include Drudge and Fox along with a few others considered Conservative...every single one of them has ran this headline story for well over a week.
How could a sick child molester be more important than a war in the Middle East?
Report the stupid story, put the man in jail and be done with it. I am 100% certain there is a news black out or even a news false flag going on right now. OWS lost momentum in their stories and they needed another pawn for distraction.
I want to know what is going on in Japan.
I want to know what is going on in Israel.
I want to know what is going on in Iran.
I want to know what is going on in Washington.
I want to know what is going on in Europe.
I do not want to hear about the jobless rate going down and more employed when I know they are trying to deceive. I know many have been hired on extra just for Christmas. And it was off the cuff reported that many peoples unemployment stopped last week. They are no longer counted..they are deceiving us...
Looks good on paper, but in January when these people lay off and go back on Unemployment we will have real trouble.
I go to the grocery store and see a jar of Salad dressing that was 1.25 is now 3 bucks.
I want to know why.
It is terrible these children were molested. but I heard it, once, twice, thrice...and I am down right sick of it. put the dude in jail and get on with the world.
I want to know what is happening in this world. I do not want to be manipulated.
Sorry this turned into a rant of sorts, but I noticed this a couple of days ago, and it has become a story that after 1 day should have been a non-story. so I agree with you 100% Heads up folks. We need to stay alert, because tptb own the news media and use it to manipulate us.
I'm not very happy with liars...I repeat
I am not very happy with liars, and they lie by omission as well as distraction.

Well I enjoyed reading your rant and I couldn't agree more.
I'd much rather hear play by plays as to what is going on with Iran. And WHY prices keep going up on EVERYTHING if the "recession" is over. But apparently we just have to blend in with the rest of the world. People obsessed with celebrities and sex scandals and parents who murder their children.

I do agree: They are trying to force us to blend in with the world. I have a reply to these people and it is the same reply Harrison Ford gave the President in Clear and Present Danger...."Sorry...I don't dance"
Your right, the recession was worse than stated, and is still going strong. And it seems the majority of people enjoy the mindless dribble dished up to them with celebrities and scandals. Seems Washington is taking advanced fiddle lessons, while America burns to the ground all around them.
And... Trying to separate the wheat from the chaff in the media is like trying teach a pig to sing. useless..my favorite saying of all time
"never try to teach a pig to sing, it wastes your time and annoys the pig"
Clearly they are trying to teach me to sing, and I am very annoyed.
thanks for the comment.
