How do you deal with trolls or rude people?

I am currently undergoing a large rudeness fight on youtube and i dont believe they are trolls... just no lifers and very angry people and thankfully we have a word for them and its called JERK..there are other words but ill just leave it at that..

i want to know how do you deal with people like these?.

I fight them until they get confused and stop arguing

You simply do not feed them, They then figure out this one does not get bullied well.
They then move onto a softer target.
Either that or you get a hacker buddy to get you an address and you go color the inside of his house with his entrails.

Haha very useful info but i feel that if you dont fight back they win....you fight until they stop

I ignore it and move on to bigger and better things. You may want to read up on argumentative reasoning theory, which describes how people are hard wired to win the argument rather than be right. I also outlined this in my introduction (although I wish I had saved that for it's own thread) Point is there are alot of people that can be confronted with point blank fact and still not accept argument lost. Can't blame the person, it's human nature to fight for the alpha position in a fight.
My advice....Like that raccoon on my porch, don't feed the trolls, they only come back.

thats good advice... but you really cannot tell the difference between a lunatic and a troll...technically trolls say the dumbest things and start an argument..a HUGE jerk starts off by calling you names and trying to own you

Or just take the moral high ground if a bout of explosive and unwarranted violence doesn't appeal by refusing to engage with pettiness.

The difference between a lunatic and a troll.
A troll will call you names from across the room, a lunatic will give you personal or semi personal details.
The person in example #2 is the one you track down and ....paint the house.
The first example needs no disciplining as they are cowards anyway, just scared little bunnies.
Everyone is a tough guy 1000 miles away.

Mostly you can tell by how playful the language is (which can be hard as ''It's not what you say but how you say it'' and reading takes that kind of context away, as apposed to a spoken convo.) Lunatics are 100% convinced of what they argue. Can't always be certain about which group they belong to though.

If you spent a second of your life commenting back to troll or a jerk,,then they allready won.

Why worry about having an argument with someone you dont know or will never meet... for all you know you could be conversing with a 12 year old.. or maybe a bunch of 12 year olds who are just laughing at you...

or even worse a 45 year old fat hairy guy sitting in his mums basement in a bra and knickers....

dont worry about it, there are more important things in life..

You know what? what you just said is 100% true... one of the trolls told me he or she is 11 and i bet the others are adults with too much free time and no jobs and no girlfriends either

Can you be more specific as to where, why and what this argument is taking place. Are you commenting on someone else's video or are they commenting on a video that you created?

If they are commenting on a video that you uploaded. I believe you have the option to erase peoples comments and also block certain people from commenting or remove the option to allow comments all together.

If you are commenting on someone else's video then just ignore them and move on. Like the others here have said DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS. Just move on to something better. Usually someone else will point out how that person is being a troll so you won't have to. Let the trolls fight among themselves.

I find this to be an interesting topic because people use the word "troll" way to often. I don't know about your situation, I am refering to members here on ATS. The group that loves to accuse people of trolling are the supporters of OWS. If you don't agree with occupy you are certain to be labeled a troll. (I should have started a new thread in the Rant area).

It sounds like you are handling it quite well. Some people are just bullies, fight them with your words. If it gets to be to much of a problem report them to an administrator or create a new account.

If all else fails there is always the power button.......just turn them off.

Takes two sides to argue, otherwise, it's just an idiot talking to himself...
