Come on, a thread on a drunk person at a protest. Its not really high quality debate is it? I know dumbing down is the fashion these days and one is uncool if one wants to discuss the issues, but its good to know there is some standard at ATS.
Here is the problem with your critique. First of all you group everybody into one category. You have to understand that OWS is not just one group of people who believe one thing. Its a group that is united on some broad beliefs. It is why for example there is some crossover between Ron Paul and OWS. It is why you have moderates and more extreme political viewpoints, although it is true there are less on the right of the political spectrum.
You also talk about people that sympathise with OWS as if we are all black - 'you couldn't afford the house and declined your loan the government stepped in, cried racism'. Complete nonsense. Its as if everybody who doesn't agree with your viewpoint represents a single entity (You this, you that).
I actually know a guy who supports OWS and he is a trader on the London Stock Exchange - imagine that. You have people that are relatively rich at OWS protests imagine that. Lots of the university age people at OWS probably have pretty rich parents who would lose out if the sentiments of OWS were implemented as law.
Capitalism of the type we have at the moment anyway, is not 'doing well' at all. Quite the contrary, that is one of the reasons why the protests are ongoing.
As far as criticism of the government goes and personal responsiblity I agree with you, to a point. That point is that you left out the responsiblity of those at the top of the financial industry, banks their lobbyists and all the other crooks who have take so much of the taxpayers money.
You should really try to be more even handed when thinking about why people support one thing or another.
