I'd say it's wrong, besides how come in 2011 there's no cure for this, i'd love to know what they REALLY do with all the money that's given to causes to cure health issues.

Ok, for one thing, this has got to be one of the most ignorant and stupidest things I have heard in a while. Apparently parents are swapping chicken pox laced lollipops in order to for their children to gain immunity later. I agree that it should be illegal and banned.

For those doing it through the mail, it's already illegal and banned, and has been for a very long time.

Chicken pox parties made sense before there was a vaccine, just like variolation made sense before the smallpox vaccine. But now that we have vaccines, there is no reason to intentionally infect anyone with either disease. Getting used lollipops from strangers through the mail never made any sense. It's no better than picking up discarded food off the ground and feeding it to your child. You have no idea what you're putting in your kid's mouth. I think the parents engaging in this get off on having sick kids and being caretakers. Shades of Munchausen syndrome by proxy.

12 years ago, my oldest son brought home chickenpox when he was only a few months into Kindergarten. He was nice enough to share it with his little sister, who was only about 7 months at the time. Her case was not very severe, however, and she had a case of shingles about two years ago, when she was 9. She can get shingles again at any time apparently, and it is contagious for those who have not had chickenpox. I would rather my kids get a nice case of chickenpox when little than run the risk of getting it later in life!

Luckily, I caught the chicken pox about 18 years ago when I was 4. I remember when I got them, my cousins had them as well and so did some kids from my preschool class. That's how kids back then got the chicken pox, by hanging out with the kid who already had them.

The lollipop idea sounds gross. If parents of today want there children to get the chicken pox at a young age then they should let them hang around kids who already has it. Now a days you don't know what people have and you have to be careful before you end up with something that you can't get rid of.
