I just came across this on Graham Spanier and then read your comment...interesting..

University President Graham Spanier, in a statement released on Saturday, expressed support for Curley and Schultz

The Second Mile issued a 450-word statement, indicating CEO Jack Raykovitz was informed by Curley in 2002 that an individual had reported he was uncomfortable seeing Sandusky in the locker room shower with a youth. “Mr. Curley also shared that the information had been internally reviewed and that there was no finding of wrongdoing. At no time was The Second Mile made aware of the very serious allegations contained in the Grand Jury report,” the statement read.

Sandusky retired from The Second Mile in September 2010, according to the charity’s statement, but barred him from any activities with children since 2008, after other allegations arose. The charity was first contacted by the Attorney General’s office early this year.

With that said, Joe Paterno knew what was going on and he didnt do anything. if he was a good character person he would have called the police and had sandusky and others involved taken out and the programs would have recovered.

In a fantasy world, this might be true....

Have you ever called the police and reported sexual abuse?.......I have.....Here's how it went down....

My neighbor's grand daughter (7 years old), told my other neighbor's grand daughter (22 years old) that her own brother (17 years old) touches her and exposes himself to her...

The little girl even went on to describe the 'member' and it's size and all else....

My neighbor tells me (for some reason) about the interaction between the two grand daughters and i IMMEDIATELY contact the authorities....

The police tell me to call the Department Of Family and Children Services, and i did.....The Department of Family and Children services tells me that they need MULTIPLE reports before an investigation can be done, and suggests that i have the grand daughter that was told call to report the claim....

She calls to report the claim, and is told the same thing, that MULTIPLE reports are required for an investigation to be opened, and even then, the authorities wouldn't be involved until after the investigation is complete.....

What came of it?.....I'm not sure.....

But i know that everyday, i have to see that boy (17 years old) and that little girl (7 years old), and knowing what i know, i am to sit by and watch....wait and watch...

It's very hard....

OK, I am just making a general reply here to clarify some things that I have argued in this thread:

I often argue from the position of devils advocate. Initially my feelings on this story were mixed as details were kind of sketchy. So I took the position of defending Paterno because I thought that certainly he wouldn't have allowed his locker room to be Sandusky's juvenile rape room.

But some details have come to light for me (which I won't bother linking as it is all over the news right now in a way that only MIchael Jackson could put a stop to). First, Sandusky was removed in '99. Not sure if it was firing, or resignation, or retirement, or what. However, in 98 there was an investigation by the DA into allegations, which the DA didn't decide to pursue (note: this DA came up missing in 2005, and his computer was found some time later with the HD damaged. He has yet to be found, is listed as missing by the FBI, but was declared dead in 2011). It seems very reasonable to me that these allegations gave the university the heebie jeebie's. But that he was asked to resign or retire anyway. How often does a 50 year old coach retire, yet stay connected to day to day operations for the team?

This leads me to believe that there is a deal going on in which the school was blackmailed somehow. He quietly went away (sort of), and the secret(s) were kept.

However, when McQuery sees the coach, and hears the graphically described scene in the shower, he tells JoePa. JoePa did his legal responsibility and reported it up the ladder. But, given the fact that there was a prior allegation (and possibly more) you would think that a reaosnable person would raise hell about this. Even more, you would think that McQueary and JoePa would have a hard time looking each other in the eye in the intervening years that this pervert was covered up for.

So i have to ask myself, why would JoePa do this? Is he afraid of being blackballed if it gets stalled up again with the DA? Is he aware of why the DA is missing? Would someone at Penn St have killed someone over this? And is Sandusky holding something over the head of someone at Penn St.?

Regardless, JoePa may have done the legal thing. But he didn't do the moral thing. Growing up, he looked like my grandfather to me. I idolized my grandfather, as he was a giant among dwarves. It is very, very disillusioning that JoePa may have done this. While I am not a big Nittany Lion fan, my family is from Penn, and I have always held Paterno in great, great respect.

I will end with a humorous note: My grandfather is a Hungarian immigrant (he is deceased now). When I used to tell him that he looked like Paterno, he would tell me "Except I'm not a WOP". THen we would all tell grandpa that "without papers" we didn't believe him.

Anyone and everyone involved in the acts or the coverup should be prosecuted and locked away,

I agree

INCLUDING Paterno.

Mind showing me proof of Paterno's indictment?

Sorry, you can not have it both ways. Paterno is clearly involved, you agreed he should be locked away. This is why you should say, I disagree. Instead you should agree everyone involved should be looked at and everyone should be prosecuted if there is evidence they broke the law.

and now we see the muney mungers are chomping at the bit.

Moody’s reviews Penn State rating

Moody’s Investors Service said it may downgrade the credit ratings of Pennsylvania State University in a sign of the potential scope of the fallout from a sexual abuse scandal at the school.

The agency on Friday said it will consider whether to lower its assessment on the university’s $1bn of debt, which is now rated Aa1, just one notch below triple A.

I wonder if tuition costs will go up
