Oh sheeeet, someone was just shot and injured near the Occupy Oakland encampment. This literally just happened moments ago. The man is lying on the ground receiving CPR.

The Supreme court stated and UPHELD the right of the "Citizen" or lawful AMERICAN, to not only protect himself/herself but gave the okay to use deadly force AGAINST a police officer who acts outside reasonable force. If there was no need for this officer to attack this woman, the crowd should have pummled him to death!!!

True and as it should be. But in such a scenario i see this happening....

Several people in crowd are later arrested and charged with murder of a police officer. FOX news then airs a story claiming the students charged were part of some terrorist organization or even typical to the contrary.. were paid by socialist leaders to entice violence from the police "disguised as students" , then a smear campaign against the falsely accused students ensues as well as sock puppets on ATS making said claims.

Supreme Court turns on deaf ears... To it's own laws

Then the family of the deceased cop is aired 24-7 on network news propaganda TV crying a river reminiscing over this sweet sweet man as the media is pouring out sympathy to a "fallen hero" lol. Then the students are demonized and ridiculed and the police start cracking down even more with a ribbon of the fallen hero cop on the sleeve. The police farce receives applause from the sheep and puppets alike and someone wins a noble peace prize for his grandiose book against the OWS anarchists...

Am i right or am I right?

Welcome to this reality i dub... The Twilight Zone

Sad but true

I've met rotten cops too. been arrested, man handled and roughly shoved in the back of squad cars over a suspended license, while being a taxi driver (you know, they REQUIRE a background check in order to get a taxi license) and they knew it was just a tail light ticket that it was over.

I've seen cops throw my own cousin down a flight of stairs because he reached for a light switch when they decided they needed to search (illegally) his apartment. broke his nose and wrist and arrested him for "Obstructing Governmental Procedure". By the way, he sued the city and the state police (because when his girlfriend called to make the complaint they called and took the cops word instead of investigating it like they should have) and won both.

We BOTH moved from that crazy town because of that kind of crap. I'm not saying that all cops are good etc. and you're right power corrupts. But what I am saying is that is not a reason to expect them to act that way just because of your prior experience(s), which is what a moron with a bottle or night stick (depending on the aggressor) does.

And no. it's not just because the knew me. It's because our Mayor and Police Chief BOTH work hard at public Relations. our Fire Department guys invite kids off the street to see the EMS vehicles. My kids have had that pleasure many times. I've seen cops stop at intersections as the walk down the street and assist elderly and handicapped people across the street, just because. I see them let people go when they pull them over for speeding too. They have a different attitude here (and I feel lucky for it) and they're here to keep the peace and watch out for people. they are a part of the community. not just robots that shake a club at you. They are parents and neighbors.

I'm just saying that most of the violence seen isn't always just a cop being a jerk. Ever notice that you can't really hear what they are SAYING to the cops in those videos? I'd bet they are antagonizing them just as much as the cops react and maybe more. How do you know what happened before the video? How do you know that someone wasn't yelling "I'll shoot you" or something? Same can be said for the cops. How do we know that the person throwing the bottle wasn't threatened with harm by a cop? We don't.

However...
1) The cops really don't need to be out there in riot gear hitting unarmed people. They know how to take down a person without hurting them, they just don't.
2) peaceful protester wouldn't stand there and personally attack the police, and most certainly wouldn't throw things.
3) If BOTH sides had a bit more respect and compassion, there would automatically be less violence
4) I still firmly believe that BOTH sides have a right to defend themselves. and in the case of that video, That girl did not need to have a club to the gut. That cop, in my opinion, needs a long time out.

The police are out number 20:1 if not more. The only people who were getting hit were the ones in range. That means that the people were not smart enough to move away from the clubs, or the cops were in a postion that they would have gotten overran and hurt if they didn't keep the people back. The cops were doing their jobs and wanting to get back home to thier spouces and kids. Are people really saying that they would let a mob of people around them to attack them?

WTF. Cops were attacked by a mob? No. The police clearly instigated it.

The students were standing there peaceable & were using their First Amendment right to assemble.

You know I'm right.

Not true. That is a lie. They were warned they could not stay overnight and they chose to violate that. It could not be more obvious it was staged so they could cause exactly what happened. Believe me, nobody is being fooled but fools.

The First Amendment does not protect the right to occupy private property. You need to slap whoever taught you such nonsense. Do any of you understand the difference between private and public property. Is the education system really that bad? Must be!

Then it will escalate..................hurt or kill a few police and it will escalate and if it gets too violent with too many regular citizens fighting back, you're looking at the possibility of the national guard, the military and marshal law being declared.

Again, at this point, there is no country much less the citizens of The United States of America that can match the fire power of our military should they become involved by Presidential Order.

I've said it many times on this site - the police would follow orders like that, the military will not.

Just thought this was relavent....

The ethical oath for police officers is taken by all police officers on completion of the Diploma in Police Studies. The oath is normally taken at the Police School in the presence of the National Police Commissioner. Family members, friends, teaching staff and other representatives will also be present.

The ethical oath was introduced at the beginning of 2001.

The oath reads as follows:

Oath concerning the professional ethics of police officers

I DO SOLEMNLY DECLARE UPON MY HONOUR AND CONSCIENCE THAT I WILL ACT AT ALL TIMES TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY AND KNOWLEDGE IN A MANNER BEFITTING A POLICE OFFICER

I WILL PRESERVE THE DIGNITY AND WILL RESPECT THE RIGHTS OF ALL INDIVIDUALS

I WILL DISCHARGE MY DUTIES WITH INTEGRITY AND WILL PROMOTE UNDERSTANDING AND CONCILIATION

I WILL EXERCISE MY AUTHORITY AS A POLICE OFFICER IN THE MANNER INTENDED BY THE LAW

I WILL FAITHFULLY OBEY THE ORDERS OF MY SUPERIORS AND WILL BE READY TO CONFRONT DANGER IN THE LINE OF DUTY

I WILL ACT WITH HONESTY, COURTESY AND REGARD FOR THE WELFARE OF OTHERS, AND WILL ENDEAVOUR TO DEVELOP THE ESPRIT DE CORPS

I WILL ACT JUSTLY AND IMPARTIALLY AND WITH PROPRIETY TOWARDS MY FELLOW OFFICERS

I WILL CONSTANTLY STRIVE TO HONOUR THIS OATH IN MY SERVICE AS A POLICE OFFICER

I often think the same, although I think there might be 4. There are the masters, the slaves, the hippies, and the loners. If we were to divide up territory, the masters and the hippies would rule 2 lands. The salves would wind up where ever they were before, as they have no real opinion. The loners would go wherever they want. If we were ever able to split the hawks and the doves, the doves are ironically going to need some heavy protection. See you in Woodstock.

Maybe if people wouldn’t put themselves in a situation where they’re going to get hurt, than this problem wouldn’t have occurred in the first place. “Violence begets violence”. Stop provoking, intimidating, threatening, throwing rocks/bottles, etc., etc., etc., and problem solved!

So if violence begets violence then what happens when non-violence begets violence? Does non violence deserve to be met with violence? NO!

Because the protesters were non violent! They did not put themselves in harms way at all. They were not standing in front of a moving train in hopes to stop it. The police encroached on the rights of these people liberties. Just because someone throws bottles or rocks somewhere even if that occurred at this protest certainly does not justify beating a person in front of you. You are suppose to subdue the person "with reason" behind the violent act himself DUH! Not randomly swinging a club at people.

Like whatever happens in Gaza gives me the right to blow up a bus or gives me a right to bulldoze my neighbors house :for example

What a lame and weak excuse!

When a protester hits an officer in the head with a bottle or rock, do you pull the officer to the side and shelter him/her when he/she is hurt?

I would help a cop if he was being jumped by some goons if he was doing his job. I would call an ambulance if a cop had been shot or was injured if he was doing his job. I am sure many citizens would too, even protesters "maybe not all" but if he was a goon or thug himself and he was met with a response from his own violent actions I would not help him at all. I am sure most would not either.

I cannot find the video, but there was one where an officer got hit with a projectile by a protester. Everyone in the crowd yelled….”yeah, take that bitch, hit him again, go cry to momma, what a baby, etc..

Never seen it, i can see it happening if the officer was acting like Tony Bologna or Scott Bergstresser and the countless thugs with a badge and a gun we have witnessed in the past month and even before that. So like the old saying do on to others as you would want them to do on to you. the police are suppose to live to the higher standard and set an example so they get what they give/ask for.

You will have some bad officers, but NOT all of them are bad! Of course when you are in danger or hurt, you will call 911 for assistance. Maybe the police need to stop helping people. You can’t have it both ways! Very hypocritical…

Of course not all of them are bad, they are capable of error like every one else. I have had police save my life before on a few occasions. I have met some really nice and down to earth cops. I have known some gangsters that were charming thoughtful people but it's about choices. You are trying to minimize this incident by pointing fingers at irrelevant things. This does not excuse what the officers in this video have done.

Gimmie a break

No need for the IRS nor any other government created corporation. BE RESPONSIBLE and live and let live.

Why people can't get it into their tiny little heads. Think about how people lived 100 years ago...200 years ago, we can live like that today even WITH all the technology. WE HAVE DOMINION over the earth and all the resources, WE own it by BIRTH RIGHT. Corporations ARE GRANTED existence BY the PEOPLE....as are governments...they should bow to the people and do our bidding. Sadly most of the populace does not get it. Just say NO!!!!

So the answer is to beat people senseless for standing on private property... really?

I have seen them subdue people in Bar fights without the use force mace, night sticks, stun guns ect. There was not even that many people there in comparison to a few other protests where they just called in an army of cops with buses, hand cuffs, zip ties and shackles. No night sticks were pulled, they just grabbed you by the arm and told you that you were under arrest and were met with little resistance.

That is the thing, if someone was standing in my back yard that does not give me a right to beat them with a shovel, and axe handle, a ball bat. A irrational and violent person would beat someone in such a fashion for standing on his property. it is unnecessary. The police would pull up in a squad car and ask him to leave and if he refused they would tell him he was under arrest . If he did not resist they would slap on the cuffs and escort him to the squad car. But if resisted they all grab you and take you to the ground "no night stick"

The police farce's brutality used on Berkley students is a CRIME! They abused and assaulted these people without rhyme or reason. Those pigs crossed the line plain and simple. Get real!

The Irony is most of these "private property's" are places like court houses and places like side walks, streets and things paid for by the taxpayer = the protesters. Who does this private property belong to? OUR RULERS!

I did not see police at Berkley i seen Henchmen

You don't have to outright attack the offending officers. All the LARGER crowd has to do is swarm them. They will back off. Enough is enough.

I don't exactly see what this so-called non aggression is. It's clear both sides are aggressive and both sides are mean. Tis better to sit in silence like the protesters long ago. You an do no wrong that way.

I agree

I am waiting for the straw to break the camels back, it is a matter of time. Even with the police attempting murder of a few soldiers right before us does not seem to be the catalyst for what is inevitable. But it is a huge brick in the wall..a cinder block. And it is mounting ever so quickly. Refer to my signature, if that does not work then our Violent response will certainly overwhelm the police farces and the rest of the bankers hired mercs.

If they were warned to leave, then that is that. Did they have a permit to be there, it may require it. I am not totally against OWS, but when they commit crimes they should be dealt with.. Do i really have to link the categorized crimes about OSW on here.......
