Really? This is probably the most DISGUSTING thing I have ever heard done to our soldiers. These men and women gave their lives, and not only do they discard them like trash, their families cannot hold a proper burial and are LIED to! Im sorry, but I am so sick I must go lay down.

www.washingtonpost.com...

From the article:
The Dover Air Force Base mortuary for years disposed of some dead troops’ body parts by burning them and dumping the ashes in a Virginia landfill, a practice that officials have since abandoned in favor of burying the remains at sea.

The Dover mortuary, which is the main point of entry for America’s war dead, sent remains to the landfill from 2003 until 2008, according to Air Force officials. The manner of disposal was typically withheld from the relatives of fallen service members. The disclosure comes in the aftermath of several federal investigations into mishandling of remains at the mortuary

It's better to burn passed loved ones only because of the diseases they may carry into the soil after being laid to rest. That's my opinion.

But, I do agree that families shouldn't have been lied to and that these men should of received a proper burial. Hope those responsible can live with themselves or don't end up with the same fate as those men.

Blah,blah,blah,complain,complain,complain...
Then, why don't you enlighten us with what you know
that would curdle our blood.
I have many family members who have served in our
armed forces.I have a son who is a disabled vet.I have
grandsons' who have served tours of duty in Iraq.I have
two other grandsons' wanting to join after they graduate
from school.
I would be upset if my loved ones were treated this way
after all they have given.

Right. Join the military and you too can become another piece of meat.

A highly trained, deadly piece of meat, true, but a piece of MEAT, nonetheless.

Far worse atrocities happen everyday.

Where do the ashes of other people go? What about decomposing bodies in the Ganges?

I believe the end destination of a soldier's cremated remains are not necessarily, uhh.. attention worthy. This kind of blah blah blah really blocks the news feed and prevents forward discussion. It's another reason ATS is in the pits and hardly lives up to it's name.

I'm sorry your sons were taken by a terrorist regime and forced to make war for profit and other devious ends. Yet, that's just life. Burn it, move on, and try to make sense of more complex initiatives.

That's my 2 cents.

By a terrorist regime,I assume you are referring to the U.S.A.?
Going by your profile, you are new to ATS,so why are you slamming
the site?
My family has served in our military for a long time.I think how their
remains are treated is a topic for discussion.
