And yes. A great majority of people in the US with European ancestry can claim royal lineage through genealogy. It is simple math.
That's a broad claim.
Not so much.
It is exponential.
If a king has just two children, those two children have children, etc. etc (and that does not even take into consideration extra-marital children).

England has been a monarchy for just over 1000 years.
60 million people (50 million being European) currently live in the UK.
If just one king had only two children, and those two children only had two each after 40 years, and it continued that way until today, their would be 33,554,432 people who could claim a line of ancestry based on direct genealogy.
Now how many kings has England had, much less the rest of Europe?edit on 11/1/2011 by Lemon.Fresh because: (no reason given)

- In 2008, both candidates, Barack Obama and John McCain, were descendents of King William I of Scotland.
The world population was 300 million then, it's 7000 million now. I would certainly wager a lot of people are descendants of famous historical figures.

US has 350 million people......the earth now has 7,000,000,000....in 2008 the earth had more than 3 billion people .
We didn't gain 4 billion people in 3 and a half years.....
Seriously dude.
