The head of the Anglican Chrch is whoever sits upon the throne of Englland.

Catholics usually require commitment to bring up offspring as Catholics before allowing them to marry non-Catholics.

The new Act of Succession will allow the King or Queen of England to marry a Catholic which would produce a Catholic offspring who would... be hard of the Anglican Church.

After 40 years of sectarian violence in Ulster, one would havwe thought that we had had enough of it, but this new bill, agreed at the Commonwealth Meeting is likely to set it all off again as soon as the above occurs.

This bill is a road accident waiting to happen and yet it is going through on the nod.

Old Henry V111 would not have liked that too much, lol. Well there is a reason for this happening. I guess we'll have to wait and see what it is. I can see a time when the Church of England will be absorbed again into the Catholic Church. Been watching it slowly happening. The Church of England has real problems with attendance these days, in England at least. So many Churches now closed.

I heard this on the news earlier. They also said that until now, the King or Queen of England, was free to marry anyone, except a Catholic, including someone Jewish, Muslim, non-religious, same gender, etc.
The ONLY person they weren't allowed to marry was a Catholic.
If a Muslim or a Jew was allowed to be the head of the church before.......

I'm not religious, so I am rather naive on these matters.

Catholics take in Anglican Priests who can't in good conscience serve the Anglican church anyone, AS Priests, even if they are married. Have been for a long time.

It's just another victory in the history of the counter-reformation.

"Road accident waiting to happen." Haha, nice choice of words. That cancelled out your thinly veiled bigotry.

It's not really though is it? Because a) it won't happen anyway they only made it an option to appease the CC. And b) With a bit of luck all these tiresome institutions of parasites will be gone in our lifetime.

It doesn't mean anything of the sort!

The Anglican church is Catholic, no probs there. However there is still the small problem of the premier ministerial post, which is probably more to do with Roman Catholicism, until that is addressed there is not a true democratic process in the UK. Other religions are otherwise unspecified, and therefore so far unchallenged.
